Alex Steinherr #2 The filtered fantasy

Every time she posts these always identical make up application videos, the comments section tells her she’s gorgeous, flawless - skin is perfection!
Yet the elephant in the room is how bizarre the dimensions of her face look given how we know what she actually looks like in person. And the way she holds her mouth strongly suggests she’s sucking in her cheeks to aid the beauty filter to make her cheekbones look peculiarly hollow given she’s not a skinny person.

Seriously, stare at this photo above for 10 seconds straight and it really grabs you what a bloody odd image it is of her face.
 
I just listened to her on the Outspoken Beauty podcast and had to come here to rant.

Alex claims that the people leaving negative/nasty comments are trolls who are “unhappy with themselves.”

Erm, no. We’re unhappy with being lied to on social media, Alex! On every single video, she’s distorting her face and her neckline is literally BLURRY from her filtering. She’s selling people a lie and dresses it up with “good skincare” it makes me so angry!

Although I loved some of her subtle digs about needing to be “professional” about other brands and I reckon they were digs at Caroline Hirons 😂

in many cases, yes online trolls are people who certainly come off as hurt people trying to hurt other people for sport but this is not the case with Ms Steinherr.

As I have mentioned before, I actually started off as someone who enjoyed Alex’s Instagram account when I first discovered her through her role at Glamour magazine. I was fond of her content over a decade ago before she started abusing beauty filters and started behaving in a super cringe way on Instagram and TikTok.

Sometimes people aren’t just “trolling” - sometimes people are just calling out bad, unethical practice. Alex has become a narcissistic fraud.

Could she be touching her chin more in her new Lancôme product video?!

I find the constant touching of her chin, the constant clasping of her chin/jaw area so bizarre and annoying. I am utterly convinced that subconsciously she is trying to demonstrate that there’s no glitch from the beauty filter when she touches her chin and therefore that tiny, dainty chin must be genuine.🤦‍♀️

Probably that too. Her top teeth don’t align with her bottom teeth. Some kind of malocclusion I think. Her chin/jaw kinda juts off to one side.
I noticed someone leaving her a comment ages ago simply saying, “You have a very asymmetrical face” and Alex did not take that well!

If you’ve ever seen Alex smile big, you can see she has this type of issue going on:

But I don’t find this ugly! We all have some asymmetry in the face. I certainly do. It’s just different, not unattractive.

Completely agree. Alex missed an opportunity to be authentic and relatable. The extreme face tuning AND vehemently denying she digitally enhances her face - and demonising anyone who calls her out on that … I’ve come to despise her content creation. It’s extremely repetitive and it’s often just a vanity project to showcase a fake perfected version of her appearance rather than a genuine effort of useful, engaging and entertaining content. It’s frustrating to see her land so many paid partnerships presenting her Facetuned face, not the real face she has. But she’s totally getting away with it and will probably continue to do so.
