It is totally stupid. To have DVC before a home is the most dumb thing. It will also heavily impact what you can borrow for a future mortgage for the rest of the contract, as they will consider it a major outgoing amount each year on top of your regular spending. My brother has dvc and it impacts their borrow amount (and they had 30% deposit too) a lot. They can prove they are financially stable and had a mortgage for 10 years before dvc and it still gets bought up as an impact. This might be an unpopular opinion, but you shouldn’t be buying into DVC before you’ve bought a house!
They are all obsessed with buying direct.Adam goes at least twice a year, and usually for about two weeks. For fun, I priced out what that would look like. He's plunking down at least $50K, and there are the annual dues on top of that.
Are you going for a total of a month every year?Even with paying dues, it's cheaper than we're we've been staying the last 5-8 years
How much do they make on YT, I remember reading $3 per 1,000 views but don't know where I read it or if it's accurate. My own opinion is that DVC especially direct isn't right for most people and I do have a problem with people who push it heavily without mentioning the downsides. I nearly fell off my chair once when listening to a Disney podcast and the host told millennials with student debt to go with some loan company that offers loans without a credit check at 25% interest (minimum) I can see that there are people it would work for but overall I find most of the mentions of it a bit tacky and show offy and the way some 'infuencers' talk about it ''just picked up a contract at Riviera to add to my 5 other contracts hahahah' isn't terribly responsible tbh.
We sat through a DVC talk (twice) and it's very tempting to sign on the dotted line there and then. Think Dr Faucilier in Princess and the Frog they make it out to be sunshine and roses and the Mouse will buy it back at any time. You forget about the initial couple of thousands to buy your points and get focused on your annual dues as that's "technically" what you're paying each year.
There are two and three bedroom units. I can believe Adam would take leave of his senses and buy enough points for the former. Also with dvc all rooms have one bed right? Plus a sofa bed. For longer trips personally that would do my head in.
No we don't, but were paying silly money to stay at Deluxe Resorts once or twice a year. Are you going for a total of a month every year?
Like, I understand if someone goes for a week or two every year, and is going to be doing that long term. It's not for me, but I get it. But if he's going biannually for a fortnight, that's a RIDICULOUS amount of money.
Please understand that this isn't a judgment, because I love Disney too, but I guess for me, I can't imagine locking myself into the same vacation every year until climate change floods WDW out of existence. I just generally have an issue with the way Disney prices their hotels anyway, given that the Deluxe resorts would be, at best, 3-star accommodations anywhere else. I can understand paying for proximity, but you're getting, at most, a shorter commute to one park. And Animal Kingdom Lodge is so far from everything else that it might as well be on Universal property.Resale is far cheaper than direct, we've paid around $18k to be able to go for 3 weeks a year for the next 30 years
Also with dvc all rooms have one bed right? Plus a sofa bed. For longer trips personally that would do my head in.
