A Pinch of Nom - Kay Featherstone and Kate Allinson

I remember when their first book was out and press articles were "these two aren't slim Minnie's, which actually makes them perfect to help you lose weight!"

How many cals a day does someone have to eat to maintain that? 10'000+?

In the early days they both claimed to have lost 7 stone or so each already. So they were probably at their smallest when the first book came out. Nowadays I think their strategy is to not be seen in public and hope everyone forgets what they look like.

the sausage digits on their posts don’t lie. Would rather they own it and say they’ve got their struggles with weight (like most of us do) rather than keep churning out food diaries etc that clearly aren’t working for them

Ah I thought that 7 stone was between them, and always seemed like a lie to pretend they were successful. Time seems to show they may not have been honest about it all.

I just can't imagine having all that time and money and with their brand still being whatever is two levels above morbidly obese.

Without health you have nothing, regardless of millions in the bank.

According to the Guardian it was around 7 stone for one of them, 5ish stone for the other.

Doesn’t surprise me that they lost those amounts through Slimming World. If you’re very large, it’s easy to drop the first few stone because you’ll be cutting way down on crisps and sweets. There was a big guy in our group who lost a stone in one week. But eating massive plates of pasta soon puts you on a plateau.

Resurrecting the thread because the Pinch of Nom team have been busy.

Saw that they’ve got a magazine out now. Had a flip through and they were reprinting that same boring campfire stew that has been a SW staple for ages. Plus the usual tit like ready made pastry with biscoff to make ‘biscoff swirls’ which are really low calorie (if you only eat one tiny one of course). No picture of the founders on the cover of course. But the content included a chat with their Facebook moderators. Fascinating.

They’ve also released a load of ready made packs for people who can’t be arsed to measure out some spices.

I have been to SW, many moons ago, and have heard of Campfire Stew but never seen a recipe for it - will have to google it. I found one of their books, Enjoy, in charity shop for £1.50 and liked the recipes but read that they filch them from other blogs. I know no recipe can be claimed by anyone but did find lots of theirs on Slimming Eats etc.

Checked the ingredients for one of them and it's 28% sugar. Lots of padding too. So expensive for what it is. You could save 90% by chucking in garlic and spices yourself and make something far healthier. I thought with the cost of living crisis branded junk like this would be a thing of the past. :(

Ingredients
Maltodextrin, Maize Starch, Sugar, Dried Garlic (15%), Salt, Yeast Extract (Yeast Extract, Salt), Butter Powder 72% Fat (Butter (Milk), Skimmed Milk), Dried Herbs (Parsley, Thyme, Rosemary), Acids (Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Calcium Lactate), Natural Flavourings, Rapeseed Oil, Caramelised Sugar Powder (Caramelised Sugar Syrup, Maltodextrin), Colours (Curcumin, Paprika Extract), Garlic Extract, Ground Black Pepper

Members used to post a recipe, they’d save the recipe and then delete the post and the member. Then the recipe would be classed as a “new” one.

chicken stroganoff became Creamy Garlic Chicken.

Two chubby cubs and Slimming eats and I think the Slimming Foodie, joined forces to support each other plus their recipes actually taste of food for decent calories.

I may have fun hiding their books in shops… and bring other creators to the front of them… 🤫

I think they are a great demonstration of the fact diets don’t work long term. They focus too much on eat less/move more which in these days of altered food environment, stress, lack of time is appalling advice. I mean how many new builds have room for a dining table never mind a decent sized kitchen to prepare food in.

I’ve lost and gained weight so many times. Only once I recognised that it’s not about what I ate but why I ate did things changed. Maintaining a four stone loss successfully and now rarely look at calories but focus far more on nutrition. And if I’m out and fancy burger and chips I have it with no guilt.

There needs to be a sea change in how weight management is approached and if people need injections to assist them I’m all for it. This will save the NHS millions long term providing they are prescribed sensibly.

Bloody hell. At least the Spicentice packs that SW influencers used to push were actual spices. This is just absolute junk. They should be ashamed to put their name on such a tit product.

I haven't seen a picture of them in years.

Presumably they're on the skinny jabs now and have finally lost a bit of weight?

This is the newest photo I could find of them from July:

I think the taller one might have lost some weight but hard to tell since they’re both hidden behind the kitchen counter. They’re both still massive though.

Yeah, it's hard to tell as a huge loss of 15kg on them is difficult to notice.

The press for their air fryer book is ridiculous, fell into bad habits? They've never fallen into a good habit!

Is an air fryer really the gateway to healthy eating?
Even Kay and Kate Allinson, founders of Pinch of Nom, fell into bad habits with their air fryer. Their new book on the gadget proves that you can ditch the frozen processed chicken nuggets for healthier, tastier options

They have bad habits regardless of what they put out.
