Rebecca "Bex" Kitchen aka wolfnsunflowers on twitter/X
Bex has grifted at a minimum £6k - though probably more through her Patreon. She also earns money from OnlyFans and other sex work which she pinky promises that she reports as income to HMRC.
As well as the grifts she is notable for her [jumpto=1]parenting[/jumpto]
The Grifts
Possibly her first grift - under a different username she went mildly viral for a heartstring tugging post on the goodness of human nature
So weird though, seeing her old tweet going viral - BTW she has a new account make sure you check it out (preferably including the linktree where you have several opportunities to send her money)
The DBS Grift
She claimed she needed a DBS check for a job - and would lose the opportunity if not able to get one. She raised the money for this on Twitter/X despite most employers paying for DBS checks. After raising the money she deleted the requests rather than acknowledge people's generosity.
Court Case
She grifted for funds for a court case against several women she accused of "harassing" her. A la Sue Lee this court case failed to materialise. Can't find the total she was requesting but from screenies would seem at least £2700
The Wedding deposit
She begged for £300 to repay her parents for a wedding deposit they had paid. She has had more than one failed attempt at making it down the aisle and claims these have cost her large sums. Despite this she intends to marry herself to celebrate her 30th birthday.
The Scrambled Egg Pamphlet
Bex's key grift to date is the book - Hearty - A Recipe book which she raised £6260 for on Kickstarter. It was fully funded by c. 70 backers on 16th November 2021 with the initial digital copies to be delivered in April 2022 per the
Seemingly emboldened by this success Bex posted a Kickstarter update on 5th December 2021 announcing she had received several queries for an audiobook version. To this end, for a professional recording she had to increase the target to £5000. In this update she also plugs her Patreon
The next update is on January 8th 2022 when the project was fully funded by 298 backers. Bex then waited 12 days to write an update to acknowledge this. Maybe she had just realised she would now have to produce the book. Her recipe writing would be complete now though, per her own timeline. But wait - her update says she's still getting the manuscript together. She still has 40 recipes to photograph and test.
Spoilering as this gets long
March 2022 - another update. This is professional proofread and edit month. But wait. She has had tonsillitis in January and Covid in February. This means she could not taste test her recipes (which should have been done in December) or photograph them (ditto). This is due to her tastebuds being affected. Only a simpleton would have a thought like "Bex, you could still create your delicious recipes which are designed to be simple, and your photographer could do their work - after all, it would not be a waste of ingredients as you will still need to eat". She is still optimistic for the Spring though!
May 2022 - the book is a month late but the backers did not deserve an update in April when they would be staring longingly into their inboxes for the PDF. She is at this time working, studying for her degree, single parenting and having a mental health crisis. She -could- release the book now without photos but she promised a full colour book. It'll deffo be this year though, promise.
August 2022 - Soz folks, she's still editing and taking pictures. Even though the book was totes ready in May apart from the pictures she's decided that she's going to add supplementary info rather than finish what she planned. She does manage to plug her twitter and instagram though.
Subsequent posts are for backers only so it's difficult to know what promises she's failing to fulfill from now on. A backer, Matthew Z posts regular comments asking about progress, while rarely getting a response.
At date of writing - 3rd September 2024 the book is still being photographed. Some backers have pulled out and had a refund but Bex is still sat on £6k for something she has failed to produce, wherein the interest in her grifting lies. A person with integrity might endeavour to refund the backers. Bex cannot do this as she has spent some of the money on photographers and editors. Surely she would still want to do the right thing but that is just impossible financially.
She has allegedly* pulled the audiobook due to there only being 2 backers - however as it was included in several reward tiers she has actually potentially denied 174 people a product they have paid for.
Allegedly because the source is the Pokémon squig who is known to be economical with the truth to serve his agenda.
