Yellowjackets 🐝

Shauna told Javi to run at the end of the last episode. I wonder if he came across the pack of wolves they could hear howling. đŸ˜©

For the film The Road based on Cormac McCarthy’s book (amazing novel, distinctly average film) the baby cannibalism was shot but not included in the final cut as it was deemed too much. So yeah I think if being faithful to Pulitzer source material can’t justify it, I can’t see it in Yellowjackets.

I do think all of this sort of speculation is part of the show’s genius of both writing and execution - ie what was shown in the first episode and then doing weekly episode drops to allow time for word of mouth to spread and theories and will-they-won’t-they chat to percolate. Even the expansion of the Spotify playlist week on week - lots of nice little touches. It’s very well thought through.

People keep saying this on reddit but I really don't think this show is gonna go that far, I'd be pretty shocked if they went there but we'll have to see. I do think the dreams Shauna keeps having of giving birth to food is kind of foreshadowing it but then maybe it's just a red herring.
I don't think they'll eat a baby, but I do think the baby will die, something flicked Shaunna's switch from being reasonably well adjusted to taking pleasure in stabbing bunny rabbits in the present day and serving them up for dinner.

I was rewatching the first episode and noticed that there's a red plane crashed near where they have the food ceremony towards the end of the episode. Their plane was white...

At the beginning the girl standing over the trap in the ground was pregnant and also wearing pink converse. I haven't seen Shauna in those trainers? So now thinking does Jackie get pregnant to Trev after they have sex?

I also think someone is already there. They lured them to the cabin with the mirror when they were at the lake.

Felt really sorry for Biscuit and for Simone, for finding that. Taissa looked evil when she found out she had won. I'm guessing Javi died, I was wondering if Nat and Travis were out in the snow or made it back to the house

Episode 10, what a ride. Excellent use of Offspring’s Come Out and Play 👏

I would have liked it to be more conclusive but was braced for it to be left open so it wasn’t *too* disappointing.

So Jackie dies of exposure/hypothermia and Lottie leads the splinter group
 still so many questions đŸ˜©

I have to check out that opening sequence again. I've been keeping an eye out for those pink converse and haven't see them yet.

Interesting about the different planes @Ohwowzers Could it be that another plane crashed after the girls?!! Interesting!

Oh, I see people have already seen episode 10. I won't see it till Thursday. Will be back then to discuss!

I enjoyed this article - how Yellowjackets explores the gendered ageing process both in the story and the casting choices

And a great character study of Misty/Ricci in The Cut:

‘Misty, and Ricci’s portrayal of her, is uniquely chilling. Ricci dominated the ’90s with a dry, brutal wit and darkness, as exemplified in a more PG way by her turn as Wednesday Addams. As an adult actor, she gravitated toward darker, more difficult characters like those in Buffalo ’66, Prozac Nation, and Black Snake Moan. Yellowjackets, then, seems built for the intersection of her skills, graduating her to an expressive, terrifying performance that defies easy tropes. Misty’s fear factor, and Ricci’s skill in playing someone so complicated, is part of what makes the show so compelling.’

She is fantastic and stands out amongst all the other actors.

Poor Jackie

Lottie will resurrect
Jackie
She will bring her back from the dead! Lol! Seriously, I was convinced all along she was not dead...now I am not so sure but maybe they can thaw her out by the fire?! Ha!

Who will play adult Lottie? I was hoping we'd see more of the survivors at the reunion, but no. So I guess nobody else survived? Hmm...

I could do without all the animal deaths in this. I have to skip those parts 😔
