Winter Olympics 2022 - Beijing

If someone in a race is responsible for causing another to crash out and two others narrowly avoiding crashing out should they have been allowed to progress to the next race?? šŸ¤”
I only ask as I watched the snowboarding race and the same racer caused one definite crash and two very narrowly avoided by other racers quick thinking and still went through. in a few of the other sports there have been competitiors pulled up for similar things under obstruction?

Itā€™s only obstruction if itā€™s intentional.

Steven Bradbury versus Fan Kexin incidents, for example.

So tit is going down in the Figure Skating comp as they have delayed the team event medals ceremony. They haven't confirmed anything yet and they are awaiting legal advice, but it looks like Russia is up to dirty tricks regarding drugs/doping/puberty blockers . They might get DQ'd and booted from individuals.

I feel so sorry for Kamila. Just a child and already in the thick of this sort of scandal. The ROC have a lot to answer for.

However, I think there are several other countries *ahem China* who are also prolific for doping, and for some reason that continuously gets swept under the rug.

Kamila has allegedly tested positive for trimetazidine, which is a drug for angina or vertigo. An athlete would take this drug because it increases blood flow and endurance level. The fact that the IOC has allowed Russia to compete under the ROC banner to get around a ban is an absolute joke. If Russia gets the boot from the team comp, everyone else moves up a place: USA gold, Japan silver, Canada bronze.

They outright sabotoge during the short track and don't get penalized, so doping is a piece of piss to them. šŸ¤

Catching up on iplayer but how could the men skiing down the course see anything through the snow and fog?
There's always the chance camera make it look worse than it is.

The commentators said they could see about 3-4 gates ahead of them which is all that's required for it to go ahead. You can get goggle lenses that are specifically for those kind of white out conditions but I imagine it's still really challenging to ride that course in those conditions at speed. So many people didn't finish. You could see the powder building at the side of the course and just one ski going off the line at those speeds would ruin your whole run as it would just get stuck in the pow.

My other half loves white out conditions but I am not a fan!

Kamila Valieva has been cleared to compete in the Ladies comp. Granted she is a 15-year-old girl and the responsibility lies with her coaching staff, but the fact is she had a banned substance in her system. They haven't decided if Russia keeps their team gold medal yet. Like I said before, it was bad enough they are letting Russian athletes compete under the ROC banner, but this ruling just makes a mockery of doping in sport. I remember how Canada was cruicified over the Ben Johnson scandal in Seoul 88. The IOC surrendered once again to these bastards and I am fed up with it. It's a ruling like this that confirms to Putin that the rest of the world will roll over for him and his ilk. šŸ˜¤ Where have all the adults with a backbone gone?

The ruling makes sense, all they're doing is buying more time for due process to be carried out behind the scenes. Much easier for them to let her compete but not award medals yet than to not let her compete and there be any risk of deciding later on that she should have been able to.

I think I read that the test that has turned up the banned substance was taken in December, and it's a bit odd that the results have only now become available, like the day after her winning performance. It seems that things are not as straightforward as they ought to be. And that's why they're letting her carry on. It's all very odd.

But ordinarily I would agree, test positive for dodgy stuff and you should be out - but they need to be getting these test results out a lot faster.

Poor elise, looks like she was doing everything to not burst into tears right there and then, perhaps it was too soon for her to be in the studio watching others take part in what she just missed out on after retiring?

Valieva claims she got the angina med in her system from her grandfather. She drank from a glass of water she shared with her grandfather. Don't piss in my ear and tell me it's raining.

The New York Times reported yesterday that she had THREE heart medications in her system, only one of which is banned.

Which begs the question: are those meds not banned because people havenā€™t tried to dope with them before? Iā€™m sure they all work to improve blood flow etc.

I never understood why letting Russian athletes compete under the ā€œROCā€ banner was any different to to letting them compete as Russia. Nothing has changed.

Well the Ladies' event put the cherry on the tit sundae that is figure skating and the Olympics. The Russian who won gold said she feels empty and silver said she will never skate again saying "I hate skating." Valieva fell and ended up 4th with Eteri saying "Why did you let it go? Why did you stop fighting?" šŸ˜¤ Thank you Eteri for creating this mess, taking these young girls, abusing them and casting them aside. This whole situation is beyond gross and criminal.
