Not to go off on a total tangent, but I have the exact same thoughts re people sending me voice notes rather than text messages!I don't know if it's me being in my 40s but I don't get the obsession with everything on video these days. I love the printed word because you can go at your pace, ie race through the boring bits, whether it's a highbrow novel or a 'how to replace your oven door' guide. I hate having to watch a slow YT video to find something out, listening to the boring intro etc, when if it had been written down I could have cast my eye over the whole thing and found the relevant bit straight away.
She always looks so miserable, what’s wrong with a smile?!Why does she always look absolutely raging
TBH they've pretty much saturated the podcast market already, if you think about it. Sometimes I'm scrolling through Spotify looking for a podcast to lull me to sleep and it's just one LL after another, which makes me cross and then I can't sleep.
LOL re 'everytime'. Bella Mackie (ie Rusbridger) is the ultimate nepo baby.

Shame re them winding up the Mail on Sunday. Guess you're right, @soph30 the writing's on the wall.
Love a podcast recommendation - thank you!(I realize no one wants this to become a podcast-recommendation thread BUT!) "Fall of Civilizations" is an ideal bedtime listen. A minimum of fuss and just a curiously sexy male voice eruditely walking you through what, for example, the end of the Sumerian empire looked like.
(My second favorite is old episodes of BBC4's In Our Time, which can make you dream of Doggerland or 14th-c Italy or the like.)
I gave it a go and it’s still just Panda telling us about books with no real analysis. ‘It really reminded me of xyz’ is about as close as she gets. I won’t be listening again. I’ll stick to the Football Clichés podcastHas anyone listened to Pandora's podcast! Sounded pretty dry to me honestly

OT but a girlie on the old Dolly and Pandora thread recommended After Work Drinks, so gave it a listen and I now loveeeeCan’t believe I still haven’t found a podcast better than the high low (in that category!)
I am so bored of her writing about sex. Her sister apart (very much not dissing that), it’s all she writes about.I always find it interesting how Clover Stroud cultivates quite a lefty, chaotic, boho, scruffy persona and lifestyle on Instagram, yet regularly writes lifestyle pieces for the Daily Mail, with the mandatory photoshoot where she gets the glam treatment. Funnily enough, she never shares these articles to her insta audience.
Abridged version on bbc sounds for free if anyone interested. Very familiar, done before plot. Fine to listen to while working mundane tasks.I read "Really Good, Actually" and found it very underwhelming. Some witty bits, but the main character was so unlikeable in a really boring way.
