Nigella Lawson has some serious praise for Green Dot on her Instagram - “I haven’t been as stopped in my tracks by a first novel for longer than I can remember…”.
The books threads here are great! Tattlers read all sorts so if you ask for recommendations in specific genres or similar to specific books they'll give great suggestions (Ie if you can say no CoHo ).Realised today that I would be prepared to pay for a dolly recommendation newsletter (as long as it mainly focussed on books and journalism rather than coooool music guff). I miss her high low book recs. Annabelle Crabb has great recommendations in oz but their podcast has been MIA for ages. Whenever I ask friends they recommend Coleen Hoover - hold help me. And so many lit luvvies and podcasts just recommend the same stuff which has been shoved at the
to recommend. I honestly don’t believe they read it half the time.
We definitely need Chat 10 Looks 3 to come back so you can get more Annabelle recs too! Thanks. I’ve just posted a massive yarn on that thread and probably annoyed the tit out of everyone. Have browsed there before but it’s so good when you find someone who has the same reading taste on a podcast/ Insta etc who you can just trust. That is the lit luvvie we want and deserve.
Caroline can kind of drive me crackers but that pod series got me the bit of a breakup where you can't bear silence and/or your own thoughtsSorry I know it's basic but I could listen to Dolly and Caroline chat tit for hours (apart from that screechy laugh Caroline!!!) I'm going through a rough patch atm and re-listening to Sentimental in the City and it's such a comfort listen for me now ❤
I think I’m stretching the limit of literary luvvie but Greg James’ promo for his new book is going well! View attachment 2857531
Don’t encourage Bella Mackie to put pen to paper I’d rather have Dolly and that’s saying somethingSort of linked to Greg James... when are we getting Bella's follow-up to How To Kill Your Family?
She did interviews ages ago saying it was going to examine the rise of true crime and the moral complications that have arisen from it, but there's no update in well over a year. Part of me thinks that Eliza Clark's Penance, which covered very similar ground and was critically lauded upon publication last year, has forced a rethink of how Bella's book is being marketed / positioned.

Penance was such a good book, as uncomfortable a read as it was. Have you read Boy Parts by the same author? It’s on my list.
