All the plaudits to the medics, players and officials. Can’t even imagine how emotional the restart is going to be, echo the above that I hope the players genuinely were given the choice whether to restart tonight or not.

edit - the BBC is reporting that the players did request the game goes ahead!

I’m so pleased he’s pulled through the bbc ought to be ashamed of themselves for not cutting the feed straight away. The world didn’t need to see him getting CPR and the filming of his poor wife there are just no words.
Agree, it should have been cut and taken to Euro football goals , or something.

Seeing the CPR behind the shield of players was unnecessary, I left the room.

Honestly thought the same, the whole thing was so traumatic to watch I couldnt even imagine being one of his teammates or his poor wife. Very poor taste to carry on filming

It’s wasnt a seizure the leg movements were caused by them performing CPR, my husband said the same. Suprised the cameras weren’t turned off sooner they captured a lot
No this was just after he collasped the medics weren't in attendance at that time he was face down with one of his team mates leant over him,his legs were making jerking movements but maybe other things in the body could cause that too ,agree the cameras should shut down in those type of circumstances.

I can't believe how much was shown on the BBC
I was in shock, one of those situations where you want to look away but can't.

I am only just starting to process it now i think.

Where's the gin???

Oh bloody hell I didn’t see that bit, this was just after the medics got there I was completely shocked when they started CPR. I hope he makes a full recovery ❤️

This section from the OFCOM code of practice is being shared all over Twitter. I agree the BBC weren't responsible for the camerawork, but they could've easily cut to the studio once the severity of the incident became apparent.

Yeah like the commentators were still commentating too. I guess they just didn’t know what to do or say but it could have been handled better

Or if they didn't want to cut to the studio just a blank screen with text saying what's happened and that the feed will resume later.

Formula 1 shows the world how to deal with these live TV moments. In the event of a nasty crash, the TV feed cuts to literally anything else, and stays off the incident until either positive news, normally shown by the driver walking away or such, and only then replays being shown. Or in the worst case scenario, when the heartbreaking news is delivered, and nothing is re broadcast of the incident.

It isn't difficult, football needs to learn this lesson in decency.

The BBC is going to have to answer some questions here. It was clear quite early on that the match wouldn’t continue. So no reason at all for them to keep filming. Someone was controlling the drones that kept going back to the shielded area, as adults we are all shocked and personally I’m a bit traumatised at what I saw, how many children will have been watching that?

My only hope is that every person who watched those horrific scenes live, makes the decision to learn basic life support skills. Bad CPR literally is better than no CPR at all. I’ve seen bystander CPR be the reason someone survives an out of hospital arrest. The images of Simon Kjaer checking his airway and commencing CPR will stay with me for a very long time.
