UEFA EURO 2021 #2

I find it really depressing the players and managers display some really heartwarming sportsmanship, like shaking hands and hugging before penalties as one example, and some fans go and behave the way they do. Disgusting.

To be honest with you, football claims it's a respectful sport, but it really isn't all that respectful. The cheating, diving, biting, crowding of the referee and shouting at him, the list goes on.

I can point to a myriad of incidents on the pitch which show there's little respect in football. That's why it's laughable that people say it's disrespectful to boo an anthem, yet turn a blind eye to the crap that goes on during matches.

Racism incidents on field, Suarez biting incidents, PSG players throwing a wobbly in the CL and getting sent off, Diego Costa spitting at another player, an Italian player disrespecting Zidanes mother, then Zidane lashing out with a headbutt. Ronaldo winking at Rooney when he got sent off etc. Some of the worse goes on in Latin America too. Watch those matches and you'll be surprised.

The scenes, throughout the tournament, displayed by some fans have been truly abhorrent. whilst I know football hooliganism isn't solely a U.K. problem, actions like the ones we've seen tonight make me very happy that a) CCTV at football grounds and surrounding football grounds is much greater these days and b) football banning orders still exist and are still extremely harsh on those who are given one.

duck the racists.

I can't stand the diving and crowding of the referee. It has gotten completely out of hand. Complete opposite in rugby where the ref is respected full stop. I was watching a Six Nations game, may have been England actually, the captain wanted to say something to the ref but the ref shut him down immediately. Something about he already explained the situation and it wasn't up for further discussion. I just watched on in awe. I also like that only the captains can speak to the referee. That would never happen in football because it would take up too much time but VAR reviews are ok

The England team have done so well
Throughout this tournament and they have so many things to be proud of like calling out racism and feeding poor children. I really felt for the guys who missed the penalties, they must be so upset. It’s just such a shame that the violence and disgusting behaviour of the minority will be remembered over all of the great football we’ve played and the way it’s brought out country together and given us excitement and hope after a shite year.
Really hope everyone in London stays safe tonight, I’m a bit worried to see what we’ll wake up to in the news tomorrow because of these utter idiots.

I mean I'd have rather England won but fair enough on the result in the end. It went right down to the wire. I hope you enjoyed your evening and the game :). Well done!

Haha. Me too. I'd rather the England team win. I can imagine how much goes into being an footballer at that level and being chosen to play in the Euros or World Cup for your country. When you put all that effort in, get to the final, but come up short, it's got to be killing them inside.

You are 💯 right my son plays for an under 9 team and some of the coaches from other teams give those young kids dogs abuse I’ve had to provide proof of my sons age because one of the teams they played last week didn’t believe he was 9 yr old because our team beat them in a cup match , this coach left his young team in tears calling them for everything because they lost the match, you need to instill respect when they’re young..,this is the text my sons coach sent me he was so annoyed as he insists they have respect for the other teams they play and doesn’t pressure them to win he congratulates them regardless

I have a friend who dislikes football and can't stand the hype. Doesn't understand why watching men kick a leather ball about is exciting. Proper misery regarding football. Says whether England win or lose it won't change his life haha. Sometimes he makes me wonder why I like football 🤣

Why do we like any sport? Rugby is just big blokes tackling each other and trying to snatch an egg shaped ball and kick it really high, running is just people walking faster than normal, skateboarding is just standing on a wooden plank with wheels on. Etc etc. We all know sports is much more than that in reality. I find these kind of people who dismiss and belittle the things people enjoy in life to be really boring themselves tbh. Bet they’re fun to watch the Olympics with! On another note I can’t wait to see us all unite again for Team GB💙

I cried a bit when England lost. Came from nowhere. 10 mins and I got it out of my system though😂
