Not every time but there definitely have been some athletes where I was a bit like 🤔 It’s not
fair really if they are clean but sadly after what happened it’s quite hard to get rid of some doubt.

It really is! Just have to trust that the testing regime is rigorous enough over in Tokyo to catch anyone out.

Personally I don't think they should be able to compete.

That’s a good idea practicing in the kitchen. I’ve attempted skating when I was younger but never gave it a proper go. I’ve been thinking I need to do more exercise lately but I don’t like the gym or running or any of the more traditional activities. I feel motivated about trying skating though? So weird. I’m 30, am I too young for a mid life crisis?😆
I'm 30 too so I'm right there with ya! I usually do more unconventional things like I coach cheerleading now but have competed myself previously, and then I was doing regular dance classes, pole fitness classes and snowboarding pre-pandemic. Switched it all to doing running and yoga during lockdown but I'm now just so bored of running round the same streets and I need to do some kind of exciting sport again! Our indoor snow slope in Scotland is still closed, and my pole studio closed down so just been feeling a bit lost and unmotivated.

BBC showing clips from the London Olympics, the noise of the crowd 😭 I’ve missed that!

Also I realise I’m not anywhere near a professional athlete but it still blows me away they run 5k in 13 minutes and my PB is 28 minutes 😂
On the Mo Farah clip? Yes I noticed that too. At first I thought they'd added the noise on because it was so incredibly loud, but I guess I have become so accustomed to virtually no crowd noise. Can't wait for things to go back to normal.

Never mind the ROC, it's Italy they need to be testing

My husband just said the same 😂😂.

Watching those clips of London 2012 makes me feel a bit emotional really, the whole country seemed to come to a stop and all everyone was talking about was team GB. I was working term time only at that point too so had the whole of the games off work and set up my HQ on the sofa for a fortnight.

This games has been pretty similar as off sick at the moment but not getting the same vibe, think that is mainly the time difference though.

Going to stay up the next two nights to watch the final few medals.

It is bonkers that they are given random horses and only given the day of the competition. Katie French is a rider so thankfully had an advantage.
The fences they’re riding over aren’t massive - they’re max 1 metre 20 which is pretty hefty BUT considering it’s such a pivotal discipline in the sport you’d think people would put the effort in? For context, under 14 years old in the UK show jump up to 1 metre 30.
It must be pretty scary getting on a horse you don’t know but equally it’s potentially the easiest discipline to mitigate for - get yourself to a riding school twice a week, tell them you’re jumping that height and take whatever they have.

Thing with pentathlons and other stuff is that often the athletes will be really good at one and not the other activities, usually it's the last one because that's where most of the advantage will be coming from

It's sort of a waste of their time to be getting good at riding, but also too expensive for the individual teams to be funding their own horses and what not
