Toddler Advice #8 Jingle bells, the house smells, toddler’s still awake; biting, and almighty tantrums what more can I take?!

I’m not sure if it’s teething or delayed reaction to 12 month jabs but baby burrito has been extremely cranky and waking for hours overnight.
He had his immunisations last Wednesday, if it’s that how long until he’s feeling himself again?? We’ve given Calpol and nurofen but he’s was inconsolable at bedtime and still wailing occasionally in his cot 😢

My son was off after the 12m jabs - was actually when his issues with not eating started as he was off food for about 4 days, and never really recovered an appetite. I don’t remember him taking over a week to settle so I’d suggest it may be teething or perhaps a bug?

Thanks, it’s so difficult guessing what’s wrong when they can’t communicate isn’t it 😭

Does anyone spend nights away from LO? I do for work and it’s killing me. Work is tit atm, I am at such a low point and I just want to be with her all the time. Does anyone have any coping mechanisms? She’s fine when I leave her, sometimes upset when I leave but she’s great whether it’s nursery or grandparents etc, so I have no worries at all she’s a very happy little girl. I just miss her and it kills me 😞

I don’t have any advice unfortunately as I’m not in the same position, I just want to say I think the bond you have with your little MM is so lovely 💖 she’s such a lucky little girl to have you as her mum xx

Anyone’s around 20 month old gone through a phase of split nights. Waking at 3 not going back to sleep till 5. Routines not changed. Did think is he getting cold! It’s killing me!! I’m still Ill on top of it and I feel desperate for a whole nights sleep!
We have had this the last couple of nights, but he has just cut a tooth so wondering if that’s why!

I’m still yet to properly leave my LO 😬
And may have to have a csection at 36 weeks unless my placenta moves, so we’ve got about 8 weeks if that’s the case

So far have only just left LO with my mum while he’s in the pram, she works at the hospital so when I’ve gone up there for appointments or scans she’s only just taken him for a walk in the pram

She’s coming over this weekend for a bit of trial out of the pram, and we’ll be doing more between now and baby to build it up so LO is comfortable and mum knows what she’s doing. So nervous because he’s an absolute terror atm with climbing everything and just doing things he shouldn’t 😬 Hoping she wouldn’t take her eyes off him though !!

Hmmm he has been poking at his ear quite abit the last few days which he normally does when teething. We only have back molars to go…. I’ll try and take a peek wondering if this is the culprit here too! They are a killer!!!

My middle one is 19 months and this is her. She's waking up at like 2am and staying awake for 2 or so hours. She doesn't cry/call us but I hear her shuffling about in her cot so then obviously I'm awake too. I do think she is cutting a tooth or two though so it could be that but with a newborn, I am lagging.

When your little ones do craft activities at nursery involving paint do they wear an apron or something to protect their clothes? And in follow up to that - does anyone have any tips for getting red paint out of clothes? I thought it’d be water-based and easily removed but famous last words…

Mine wears an apron in nursery, occasionally she comes home with a splodge on her trousers (and once they’d obviously forgotten to clean all the paint off her foot after doing foot prints so she had a green sock 🤦‍♀️) I usually put washing up liquid on the paint, rub it in and and leave it a few hours and then put it in the wash. So far I’ve been lucky and got any paint stains out, biro on the other hand is another matter but that’s down to my parents and not nursery

No, they warned us to only send him in wearing old or cheap clothes! They didn’t even take a white bib off him or roll up the cream sleeves of a tracksuit which are now stained yellow, learned our lesson 🥲

My experience is that any bibs or smocks are used for photo ops only. Dr Ortkrass travel wash and then a soak in detergent and vanish should help

These split night are gonna be the end of me!!! Been up since midnight no sign of sleep!!!! Please tell me they pass!
Don't worry @WotsitG1 I have found a foolproof method for sleeping through the night!! Just leave the landing light on, it worked for baby L 3 nights in a row so I'm going to quit my job and set up as a sleep consultant 🤣

On a serious note, it will end. Baby L has a week or so of split nights every couple of months. It is brutal, hang in there and be gentle with yourself

LO has finally getting the hang of the doddl spoon, he really tries with the fork too.

The only issue we’ve been having now for the last week is he’s not eating his breakfast? He’ll use the spoon with a yoghurt on other meals but he’s will try one or two spoons with weetabix or porridge before he stops and gives up.
And ever since he has realised he can do it himself he doesn’t want us to help or spoon feed him (which is fair!) but just makes me worried he’s not getting the things he needs because he’s not eating breakfast really anymore because there’s no way to get it into him :(

Hoping it’s just short term.. this morning I waited until he seemed to really be asking for food (blueberries of course 🤣) to make sure he was hungry before I started his breakfast but it made no difference at all. A couple of spoons of it and he’d given up :(
