A bit late with this observation but there were hardly any of the TM ‘experts’ at NTAs only dr Zoe (I’m not including Rochelle!) usually they are almost all there. I’m guessing there was still some restriction on numbers cos of covid?

As much I stand up for BLM movements, gender/pay equality etc Allison should never, ever, have been considered for this gig. Her level of unprofessionalism is astonishing. She has proven many times over she is no fit for the role yet, no one had the courage to kick her big fat but off after the summer break. It's not like she has the public support either. Mind-boggling...

Alison was good in the same role that Josie is. But that’s it. Right person at the right time. She was pushed forward because of the black positivity movement, with ITV wanting a black presenter at all costs. Why they thought Alison was that person, who knows! There are plenty of good black presenters who could have done it - Angelica Bell is excellent. Dermot is also the wrong male half, not just with Alison, with anybody. He is the wrong fit for the programme. Their partnership does not work. They do not work. Martin Frizell has got a lot of decisions wrong lately.
 
Angelica Bell would’ve been a great choice.

I love Alison but she is unsuited to the role of main TM presenter. I wish they had given her her own show for the mid-afternoons or the old Paul O’Grady teatime slot. Something centred around her big personality and a little more lighthearted. Maybe not celebrity interviews but her discussing hot topics with a panel of guests, giving advice to members of the audience and so on. A bit like a one woman Loose Women.

Dermot hasn’t been good on anything since BBLB circa 2005.
 
I don’t think it is fair to dismiss Alison as a “diversity hire”.

She’d been on the show for well over 15 years before she got the main gig. It’s not as if she was plucked off the street because she is black or large or female.

If anything, Dermot was the diversity hire. A few months after Schofe comes out and they hire him as The Straight Man. Were Schofield still in the closet, I bet they’d have offered the job to Rylan.

I agree, I don't like her but she has been a presenter for ages (she must be the person who has done best out of being onBB?) I am just annoyed that they have let allison talk about refusing the vaccine tbh
 
As others have said Alison is not suited to the main gig, she is put of place. Despite her 15 years in the show, if she isn’t suited for a “promotion” - based on her talent it leaves me to believe it’s a diversity hire.

same with Rochelle.

If it’s not diversity - what’s the reason for them being chosen to present to such a wide audience on a well known show? They are both terrible and unnatural at it.
 
Not saying Allison doesn’t have the credentials - I love her as a celeb interviewer and for comedy value. I always said she needed her own show like Graham Norton or something!!!

But as an anchor for a prime time news show she just isn’t suitable whatsoever.

You can’t go from pushing a guy in to Albert Dock (still my favourite tv moment of all time!!!!!!!!!!) to talking about serious subjects like war, cancer, addition, disabilities and so on
