I think TM needs a massive shake up to be honest. Presenters are awful, the only ones I like are Eamonn, Ruth, Vanessa and Giles.

It cracks me up how they are trying so damn hard to be diverse but they still cater the show to stay at home mums/housewives. MEN watch daytime tv as well but no we have to watch women’s fashion, agony advice from the awful Deirdre and cookery.

I also like him with Maureen Lipman on Gogglebox and with Sheila Hancock on Canal Journeys. Wonder if he ever takes his wife out with him. 🤣
I have read quite a lot of his books, including his diaries. He is a shameless name dropper and he used to be a massive flirt, but he does seem to know everybody. Such a varied career, Tory MP, writer, presenter, Monopoly champion! He never stops working.

Do men not cook or need advice?

My point was that the show leans heavily towards the traditional stereotypical interests of women. It’s womens fashion every week, it would be nice to have men’s fashion once a week too. Men’s health is rarely featured short of a special feature a couple of times a year. I’m sure men are equally interested in cookery and advice but the show could do so more more to bring in male viewers in my opinion,

Personally I think it's maintaining their lifestyle. Their house must eat a lot of their income, it's huge. Ruth also has expensive taste. I bet the house is on mortgage, as they bought it when Ruth was fairly low profile and long after Eamonn left GMTV. They'll have a healthy retirement budget but not enough to maintain that big house. I also wonder if a lot of their salary over recent years has gone in to a savings account for their son.
Eamonn also got a hefty tax bill. HMRC changed the rules and said he was not self employed, but a company based; despite no sick or holiday pay. So got £2m tax bill back dated over 20 years. I'd say that's why he is not retiring.
