I remember the rumours that Ruth complained to the bosses about this relationship. Holly must have known at the time or did she think the runner was making it up?
Something obviously happened over this last week: this was semi-common knowledge for years yet all of a sudden this last 6/7 days or slightly more, Holly couldn’t work with him anymore, Phillip ‘resigns’ from This Morning, his agents drop him and now he’s come clean about the runner and resigned from ITV entirely

The super injunction apparently was coming to an end in July… this is damage control! Leak it yourself and have some control over the situation rather that letting the press or MM leak it himself.

Knowing what we know now makes that Very Special Episode of This Morning where Phil comes out insane. Holly asking him if he could ever imagine dating someone and him laughing innocently saying how it’s too early etc when they both likely knew full well what he was at. Or at least he did anyway.
Ruth could barely look at him when they went over to embrace him. They were likely made do it by itv and the fact that they were the ones axed makes itv look even worse.

I think Éamon Holmes needs to keep more of a dignified silence now. I know he's delighted he can finally get everything off his chest but he's doing himself more harm than good.. If I were him I'd just be silently delighted Phil got his comeuppance and leave it.
