Harry getting the shield is good. If he isn't banished it explains why he isn't murdered.

This would have worked better if he'd told them he had it though. Because now there will be a murder that isn't him, whereas if the traitors tried to murder him without knowing he was protected then no one would be murdered. Usually I think it makes sense to keep your shield a secret, but in this situation I don't think it makes sense.

If a faithful has the shield it's better to keep it quiet because then the traitors don't know who to avoid killing. If they try to murder someone with a shield then all the faithful are safe.
