The Tinder Swindler - Netflix

Netflix will be currently filming. Probably hoping to get the diamond company to open up and make the corporate fraud the main thread for a second series.

The follow up series are never great are they - who remembers Making A Murderer season 2? *yawn*

Although they are a lot better now at properly gauging how many episodes a story needs to be to keep it engaging.

To me, when the lady said “what’s more important, my apartment or my friends security?” I’m thinking nah you’re an idiot mate. Barely knows the dude…and thinks to give him the savings to her apartment she was gonna buy??? Nah. I don’t feel sorry for these women at all. Maybe I’m a witch and that’s fine, but if you’re dating someone that claims to be a billionaire, then sorry - red flags right there when they need money.
The first one, Cecile, defs not the sharpest tool in the shed. Sorry to say.

She was beyond dumb it was painful to listen to her. They’re also on Tinder clearly to find someone with money this time they got a billionaire who needed them to pay for a can of juice. Idiots

I agree. I can’t understand why people feel sorry for these women. Have some common sense. A billionaire (perceived or not) has to ask you for money? Really? Some random person off tinder???

I may be a touch cynical here but if I’m looking at someone’s Instagram, and they’re in lavish clothes and private jets…then they ask me for money because their cards don’t work????? Block!!!! You have a rich family, duck off and ask them

Same .Althoigh I’m still not 100% sure I believe the whole thing I did think the same when she said what’s more important her 30k apartment savings or some randomer she barely knows claiming he needs it to protecte him from his ‘enemies’ .I mean it wasn’t £30 is was 30k!!!

This show is crazyyyy. I know some say they are naive and stupid (which is easier to say looking on from the outside of a Netflix show) but I have a lot of sympathy for them. They are victims of abuse - love bombing, emotional abuse, coercive control & financial abuse by a narcissistic conman. I wish Netflix has explored this avenue a bit more actually. Yes, blinded a bit by the Disneyesqe nature of it (bet it cost Netflix a BOMB to use that Disney footage btw) but I’m sure many girls would fall for it. Getting into the amounts of debt those girls are in can literally be a death sentence - I’m sure the more victims that come out, there will have been suicides amongst them. That kind of debt (and even much smaller debts) can be totally overwhelming and make you feel like there is no way out. I felt anxious just hearing about it because I can’t bear the feeling of owing money.

However, I guess it would go in my favour being quite an anxious person and a true crime junkie if I were to ever meet him though because no friggin way would I meet someone for a coffee at 2pm and then be catching a flight with them at 6pm! Nah-uh….no way.

Totally agree that kind of debt could seriously drive someone to suicide !
He is a nasty evil scamming conman his true colours came out when he realised he had been conned at the end !

He is a sociopath. Now his (many) Instagram accounts have been shut down, that will hurt him.

He had this to say in his "defence" (it doesn't make much sense):

He does protest too much 😂
Who an earth will believe him when he says “ it’s all lies “. Trust me, Netflix dont build a whole docu series based on lies.

Does anyone else think this whole thing is fake and they’re all actors ?
Absolutely not. It’s a very elaborate scam, that’s true, but sadly there are people like him in the world.

There are so many either spoof accounts or back up accounts, looks like he’s been shadow banned maybe? As hard to find him through the search

Some comments from Simon’s driver:

I would love to hear from the ex with the baby too
That’s interesting because he did reassure the ladies because he had been drinking fake Simon around for a while and he told the ladies Simon was a nice guy which he now feels guilty about but obviously didn’t realise he was a conman !
Think I will have a listen to the podcast 🤔
