The Drowning - Channel 5

I've seen better dramas, it was stupid the way she was acting so dodgy at the school, constantly seeking out Daniel. I would have been suspicious too. I don't know why she kept going to those men for papers when they don't even do good work. Her friend who I doubt was an expert realised that their workers paperwork was dodgy.

I also didn't understand why they kept hanging out with her ex and his new family.

Who turns their back whilst on the phone when you have a 4 year old near a lake! Then to push him further out disgusting. If he didn't want to get himself in trouble he could have pretended he just found him.

Then the ending, I think Daniels dad was way more understanding then I would have been about a psycho woman coming into his life, grooming his son, trying to kidnap him then him ending up in jail for falsely being accused of kidnap. I wouldn't be laying a wreath with my son for her son who neither of them knew.

To me it felt like there was an episode missing. The ending was very rushed. Would have been good to see how they got to that ending point. But overall I did enjoy it and really like Jill halfpenny so was pleased to see her on my tv!!!
I felt the same - that it could have done with another episode. Wonder if it was budgetary constraints? Apparently, It’s a Sin could have run for another two eps but it was cut down due to money running out.

Yes l remember Marchlands!

It was entertaining but the script was quite poor and some of the acting by the side characters was dodgy. I don't think it needed the subplot with the false document criminals.

What was going on with the wardrobe department though..?

I was really looking forward to it but it was pretty tit in all honesty.

The dbs stuff, getting a teaching job with no actual teaching qualification.. why was Daniels dad so suspicious of Jodie if he had nothing to hide?

Saying they dredged the lake when it looks the size of bloody Loch lomond!!

Hate it when you waste hours of your life watching something that turns out tit!

I thought it was tit. Completely far-fetched, over the top, unbelievable bollocks.
I keep thinking it could redeem itself somehow but the last episode was even more ridiculous. I got eye-ache from rolling them so much.

Completely agree. I actually found myself laughing at the whole 'get away and chase' on the lake with how absurd the whole thing had become.

It's like they had the basis of a decent story and then they decided to rip it all up and piece it together again, but they were missing half the pieces which made it descend into chaos.

I thought the acting was awful (and to say I loved Adam in Spooks is an understatement) but I think that was down to the quality of the script.

There were so many 'as if' moments. Really lazy TV.
As if she wouldn't have been arrested for the whole dbs fraud.
As if she wouldn't have been 'done' for kidnapping the boy.
As if her brother would have pushed the boy's body further into the lake.
As if her brother would have been able to nearly catch the boat in his suit in a freezing lake.
As if the boy and his dad would have been at the lake to throw commemorative flowers in. What happened to the guy who trashed the gangster's 'lair'? Did they get him? That gangster would not have festered in a hole like that - he'd probably have had a lot of dirty from somewhere. Just clichéd and cringe.
That's just a few. It was absolutely ridiculous!

It was aggressively bad, and we were hate watching it by episode 3. So many implausible plot lines. terrible acting (shout out to the school secretary with a face like a smacked arse, who was chewing scenery from her first second on screen) and the ending. Oh dearie me. Was it meant to be funny? Him walking into the lake after them, like what was his endgame? TERRIBLE

Yep I had second hand embarrassment for Sally Dynevor's husband!

It got me when it turned out Daniel wasnt her son even though he looked exactly the same with exactly the same scar under his eye 🙄
My son is the same age of teenager Daniel/Tom. My son has a scar above his eyebrow. There were three other kids in his year in primary school all with a scar in the same place. Daniel's scar was not a common scar like my son has. That scar was quite unusual. Even Daniel thought he was the boy in the photo 😂
