how are people nominated in two different categories? Either they’re r&b or they’re pop. What’s the point in categorising it

I don't think an artist has to stick to one category, for eg if they have 6 pop songs and 6 r&b songs on their album then why can't they be nominated for both? Look at Taylor Swift for eg, early in her career she was getting pop and Country nominated

I don’t see Raye as Pop at all. I think they’re basically sucking up to the R&B crowd this year, they only split Pop and R&B into two separate categories this year, and last year they p*ssed a lot of people off because their Pop/R&B category had no R&B nominees.
