How do people see the Rob storyline resolving? He’s irredeemably awful so I reckon a festive siege or something…

I reckon Rob might commit suicide and in such a way as to make numerous people feel guilty.

Henry steals Pat’s gun, shoots Rob. Pat figures out it was Henry but takes the blame and confesses to Harrison that she did it.

Blimey Rob's father Bruce is horrible. Are we all supposed to feel sorry for Rob?
Interesting dilemma.
Isn’t he!
I feel like it’s showing the whole ‘hurt people hurt people’ that is always a feature of writing workshops.
I think it’s good in way. Someone like Rob comes from Their own trauma. Not to justify but to explain. Not everyone from that background turns into a Rob but tot how to show that continuing to hate gets nowhere.

Well put. It is hard to listen to that episode and not feel sad for Rob. His awful father and deceased ghastly mother (Ursula?). As you say not to justify what he did to Helen but to put it into context. His behaviour did not grow in a vacuum.

I think there are some great storylines ATM. It’s been a long time coming though. I feel like they are rounding out Rob and that it’s a good thing. They did a great job back in the day of showing how rob’s behaviour crept up in Helen. She was in too deep and totally controlled by the time his behaviour became overt but the the listeners he was a baddie from early on. It’s never that simple with villains and DV. I’m glad they are fleshing out his demise.

Also excited that Denise (“AlisDAIR”) is back so that they can start getting it on. Pip, Stella. Ruth and now Hannah quad is great too. Pip’s misdirected fury at Ruth was a great bit of writing. My only request is that they bin off the grundies for Christmas along with the play / inevitable reading of the inactive but not forgotten Lark Rise to Candleford (I fear I have awakened it from by saying it’s name… Ambridge residents are waking up as I type and grasping around for their copy). Does anyone actually like the Christmas play storylines?

I hate the Christmas play storylines, especially the bullying from Lynda Snell.
No way would so many villagers in RL ever be taken in by someone like her.

It did, but I didn't like him being a bastard bullie being blamed on his learnt parent behaviour, it shouldn't be a get out clause for bullies even if they were victims too.
Exactly, I hate it when TV/radio dramas do this, and they seem to do it quite frequently.
There always seems to be a bullying controlling parent or dead parent that is used for excuses for appalling behaviour.

I don’t know if it’s a change in staffing, having limited cast in each week or something else but I am finding it irritating at the moment how much we are told and not shown, or overexplained. Recent examples being Mia’s interaction with was it Hilary Noakes? And Denise and AlisTAIR describing each other’s Halloween dress up in excruciating detail.

Yes they’ve been discussing that on Ambridge on The Couch and The Cider Shed. Also Pip telling Jill about Stella.
