The Archers

Is that the dum de dum one? I listened briefly but it was too chaotic. Any recommendations on that front?

Yes šŸ˜‚ I enjoyed it with the original presenters around the time of the first Helen and Rob drama, but some very strange things have happened in the time since with hosts departing very quickly only to set up on their own. Screams of something wrong at the top but is presented to listeners as a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.

I enjoy The Cider Shed which is one of the offshoots spawned by previous banished hosts. Itā€™s quite no-nonsense, a bit filthy, and without all the twee segments and calls in from listeners.

I enjoyed DTD to begin with (it was Helenā€™s court case when I started listening), the recaps were great but then it seemed to ramble off into various topics and the episodes started getting longer and longer.

Somebody on another message board saw a production of it coming up soon on Radio 4. I wonder if it is like that Canterbury Tales one they did a while ago with all the Archers cast? Nice but of self promotion there then.

I vaguely recall some drama during covid when a zoom event was take. Over and they were shouting racist things at one of the presenters. I fear this may have been a fever dream šŸ˜…

Might check out the cider shed. Liked the archers chat on dum de dum but hated the calls / voice notes. Loved how much they hated Usha and Shula.

Just cause I can't seem to get enough, I listen to The Cider Shed and Ambridge on the Couch - the recap on AotC at the start is great, as are the Fabreeze segments!

Thereā€™s a fairly enlightening thread on the r/Ambridge reddit about the behind the scenes of the fan podcasts, for anyone else who was looking for the tea. Long story short is that Iā€™ve unsubscribed and unfollowed all things Dum Tee Dum.

Thanks for this, I always wondered what happened with Lucy as she disappeared so quickly. I even went back and listened to the previous weekā€™s podcast again incase Iā€™d tuned out/fallen asleep and missed that she was leaving.

Wish Stella would ditch Pip, as dronesome as her cousin Adam eye ore.

Sick of the Lark rise candleford* book mentions and now it's creating a new storyline - save Jim's traditional harvest celebration.

*watched the BBC series and enjoyed that.

Pip has far more natural chemistry with Toby. As far as Pip can with anyone šŸ˜‚
All she and Stella do is massively over analyse everything then flounce over some comment or other.
Yes, theyā€™re taking the flouncing in turns, and why has it taken Stella all this time to realise there is a five year old involved here, in my world when you feel you are getting close with someone difficult questions have to be asked. What are the scriptwriters like sometimes, Fallon and Harrison apparently never had the ā€œare we going to have childrenā€ conversation, how can you get past that when one wants children and the other doesnā€™t when the one who doesnā€™t never disclosed.

I want Ruth and Stella to get together after David gets run over by a reversing tractor he has to go he serves no real purpose Pip can have her friend in the bin bag . Please George do something bad your the most convincing character troubled and struggling in the village of the dammed if someone else over hears something to keep a story line going Iā€™m going scream all a bit lame god knows how all the plot lines are going to be pulled together.

Dear God LR over fecking Candleford can The Radiotimes ask there listener to vote on the next book thatā€™s going to be workshopped on The Archers my vote will go for Fear of Frying no I mean Fear of Flying by Erica Jong any other suggestions.....
And as for the band not doing the gig at the Harvest supper you would of had of been visually impaired and in bed with Stormy Daniels not too seen that coming .
