I imagine it would require so much in the changing of scheduling and increasing their fitness it probably wouldn’t happen but as a raging feminist it does pain me to say I don’t watch the women’s as much as the men’s cos often it’s over before it’s even started.
I personally think it's a disgrace that the women are paid as much as the men in the grand slams. I've got no issue with them being paid the same, but they should also play the same. The fact they don't actually means they are paid more pro rata than the men!

Female athletes work and train to the best of their physical abilities too, so they absolutely deserve to be paid the same as men. Saying otherwise is sexist and pretty misogynistic tbh. Female football players play the same amount of match time as men and still get paid much much less. If you start insisting that this should be the case in tennis too (instead of arguing that maybe female football teams should get paid the same!), then where does that lead to?

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, I'm new to this thread but has anyone watched Break Point on Netflix? Lots of spectacularly awful Instahun girlfriends. The only decent one is Ayan Broomfield who is Tiafoe's partner.
I only watched the first couple of episodes of the 1st series and got a bit bored so never saw all the wags.

Does anybody remember Serena and Venus reality tv series from 2005 lol

Women have been asking for five sets for decades (since the BJK era, I believe); as was mentioned up-thread, five sets gives you much more of a chance for a comeback after a dodgy set (or even two dodgy sets), and almost all of the the edge-of-the-seat classics are five-setters.

Tennis associations refuse as they say they haven’t got the capacity to fit women playing five sets into the schedules 🙄

So yes, in terms of time on actual court it’s certainly a higher rate of return. But it’s a huge shame that the three-set max for the women’s makes for fewer classic matches compared to men’s and, to my mind, is a large factor in why women’s tennis is deemed ‘lesser’ than men’s. 😕

Don’t want to pester the Swifties thread with another tennis-related post, so here’s Roger at Taylor‘s concert in Zürich right now 😁
