It seems like the family you knew were an unusual case. Children are very rarely removed from their primary parent. I would imagine there were many more things going on as well as the move causing disruption to the children’s lives. The children’s wishes also would count if they were old enough to express them and maybe they did not want to move schools and friends etc.
I do personally think it’s far too soon for Charlie to be moving so I’m not sticking up for her, but I really do not see even a chance in hell that Brett would get custody because Charlie moved to be nearer her “husband” as H is a baby and so she isn’t disrupting her education, she will obviously still see Charlie’s family and she’s already suggesting different plans for Brett to still see the baby regularly. A court order would be good so that they don’t argue about who does all the driving as it’s a bloody long drive regularly, especially when they have move children to consider in the future.
