I am not sure if they were in lockdown whenHudson was born? This wasn’t Ste specific either.... I remember her mom taking Hudson and she said “I don’t want to put him on formula” specifically (as opposed to “I don’t want to lose that bond” and I justalways thought it was a big jump to not attempt before going straight to formula.

*n

Not to attempt pumping/expressing. Obviously she was attempting the breastfeeding lol.

O no sorry I didn't mean anything to do with lockdown, just that they mother normally ends up the primary caregiver so if she wants to breastfeed fine and if she doesn't want to pump that is fine.

It was also for a very brief period of time if I recall... wasn't like he didn't see Hudson for 6months because of it.

I just think its unfair to judge her and say she was trying to keep Ste from Hudson, when there's really no other evidence of this from any other time of both the boys childhoods so far

I think the breast feeding scenario with Amber was just a rod to beat Ste with. Bit like the birth certificate situation with Brooklyn, and Hudson name reveal.

They are both as bad as each other, literally can't be in a room with each other without scrapping. I wonder if they argued whilst bleeping as well🤔 🤣

O to be honest I would support any new mother who isn't married/ in a super stable relationship with their child's dad not wanting their name on the birth certificate, purely cause my sons bio dad is on his birth certificate despite not having seen him since he was 2 and being useless before that even. I wish I hadn't have put him on it

But pretty sure Ste said on the live she didn't put him on Hudsons either originally and if that's true that is very petty, like you already know he's a good involved dad...

Gotcha. Yeah

gorcha. I wasn’t really even being Ste specific when I said it. I think one of the times it was her mom taking Hudson. I’m supportive of any methods Fed is best, to be sure. It never seemed to come up as an option when she thought she may not be able to continue breastfeeding. Maybe pumping is more common in the states due to maternity leave time being so short.

I agree with everything your saying. The decision was hers alone and she is free to do as she feels best. My only point was that it seemed like these were the only two options discussed when there may have been another viable option for her. Of course this could have been discussed behind closed doors and I’d she decided it wasn’t an option that’s completely fine.
The advice for BF is to exclusively feed for the first 6 weeks so you body can regulate how much milk you need. If your feeding and pumping your body produces extra milk to meet the demand. This can cause blocked ducts/mastitis e.t.c Also they recommend putting the baby to the breast for the first 6 weeks so they can develop a good latch. However I know this is a broad subject and theres no one size fits all so if a Mother can’t always feed for whatever reason and doesn’t want to use formula she could hand express or use the Haaka silicone pump which just collects milk from one breast as you feed baby on the other one. But again this may not suit everyone. Feeding babies can cause all kind of heated debates and we don’t know why Amber was so against a bottle of formula been used now and again but I agree it is her choice. She’s carried the baby for 9 months and done all the hard work bringing him into the world, Ste shouldn’t have been putting pressure on her to use combination feeding until breastfeeding was well established.

Whoa defensive...actually I do....I did this for mine as he wouldn't latch and I still wanted him to get the breastmilk. I wasn't at ALL saying she should fold to what Ste wants - what I am saying is that if her concern was putting him on formula V. breastfeeding, it could have been a very viable option rather than going straight to formula.
It can be quite dangerous to express early on and can mess up breastfeeding long-term. Considering the risks of formula and the amount of time and energy it takes to express, I can 100% see why she would rather breastfeed and that shouldn't be questioned, nor is there a "it would've been easy to" I'm really glad expressing worked out well for you, but it doesn't for a lot of women, and let's not forget she also had Brooklyn at the time (who she has said isn't very easy to handle), she'd just given birth and was really ill, and on her own.

I want to add to this I am from the US where maternity leave can be as short as 6 weeks. A lot of us aren’t left with options. That could be influencing my opinion.

I’m in no way saying she shouldn’t have tried! It sounded like she was either going to breastfeed or switch to formula, not add in formula while still breastfeeding. If this was the goal, I agree. It sounded like either try to breastfeed or stop and do formula. :)

I know it's not on topic at all but it's so nice to see all the breastfeeding support and knowledge on here.

Maybe Amber did try to express and we just didn't see it? I breastfed my daughter for 2.5 years successfully but could barely express more than half an ounce. I obviously responded better to her latch than a pump, and it's actually not that uncommon. Aside from that, I wouldn't express for a newborn to spend time away from me either. It's a time where both parents need to make allowances for the sake of their baby's best interests, but unfortunately, as we saw, Amber and Ste are not the kind of parents that can do that.

Didn't he work for Land Rover?

Charlie? He was seen in a high visibility jacket a few times on the show. I think he does something in construction or works on the roads. I doubt he had sole ownership of the Range Rover. One episode he’s seen washing it with his Dad at their very modest looking house. I think it’s a family vehicle and Charlie just happened to be driving it whenever they filmed. I can’t imagine what the payment would be for it so maybe they all chip in and get to drive it. Seems like a we want to have the best/nicest looking car on the street situation.

Aren’t Range Rovers expensive to maintain? Maybe that’s only in America. BMWs are notoriously expensive to maintain here because of needing to import already expensive parts

She very well could have tried! I know we don’t see everything. After responding to several other comments, I also realize I assumed she was going to either pump or BF, rather than supplementing. I could have been mistaken on that.

Land Rovers in general drink fuel and are notorious for constant leaks and breaking. Some models more and less so than others.

With peace and love guys, sometimes this thread feels like mumsnet. I’m here for a good time not a long time x
In all fairness we're literally discussing a show centred around parenting. 80% of the thread is about the mums and dads' parenting. Nobody was having a formula Vs breast debate, we're discussing Amber and Steve's specific situation. I'm not sure why the Mumsnet comment gets thrown about every time we discuss anything other than Dylan and Reeane breaking up or Megan's personal murderer 😅

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaseeeeeeee can we stop with the breastfeeding chat? Whether it comes from your tit or a bottle, as long as your child has a full tummy, with respect, NOONE CARES.

PS I'd never noticed Chloe's hand in that photo before and now it's all I can see!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

But people literally do care such as Amber which is why she didn’t want to leave her newborn overnight which is why the topic is relevant to the thread 😅

I don't care what every Tom Dick and Harry did with their own kids though! Fair enough when we're talking about Amber using it as an excuse to keep Ste from having Hudson overnight, but the mundane breastfeeding chat isn't relevant unless it's specific to the show.

I always assumed he worked in construction as well maybe as a labourer considering his age at the time as I doubt he had much experience with anything else. I also assumed he probably had it on finance or leased it (usually range rovers are about £500 p/m) just to do that option, also not including how high his insurance must have been on that. I guess if you have no other bills coming out like rent etc then he probably could have afforded it but then why have that much outgoing on a car when you could save for a deposit on a house and drive a modest car. Either that or it was his parents, I can’t remember ever seeing much of them in the show if at all
