Can’t believe anyone would watch that and NOT blame Amber.
Do we have any American’s on this thread? Just wondering, is using ‘re***d’ as an insult extremely offensive in the USA? Is it used like a general intelligence insult, something like ‘dumbass’, or is it considered discriminatory to people with learning difficulties?
Here in the UK it’s an historic word that was used by medical professionals for people with unspecified ‘mental deficiencies’ and is now a highly offensive insult and derogatory. It’s closer in nature to using a racial or homophobic slur, and could even be considered illegal (hate crimes) in the context of some circumstances. It’s the type of word that if you used in your workplace here, even as a joke…you could be sacked etc.
Just wondering if it being said by an American is as ‘offensive’ in their culture. If so, regardless of whether Amber was reprimanded or not, it’s surprising that mtv aired it.
But then…they have just aired a parent calling a child ‘a dick’ and making her child cry, although it’s not the worst insult, broadcasting how that’s affecting Leah is very insensitive.
As Leah is now at the point where she is due to start driving, that’s a big part of her independence achieved…the time for her ever ‘needing’ Amber is going to drop to an absolute zero. Assuming Leah has some money from her appearance on the show, asking Gary to allow her to have a car as soon as she’s legally able, if she’s as sensible as she seems, would be very reasonable to let her spend her money on that.
