It’s like they don’t see it will be Carly’s choice whether to meet them or not. They just seem to think she’ll go there and never look back

I think Brandan and Therese didn't realises that the tv show would continue and by having an open adoption their own lives were going to be exposed. I think I remember reading they didn't want an open adoption but were so desperate for a baby agreed.

wonder did Aubrees dad ever shape up

It was actually never an open adoption. They agreed to a semi-open adoption, which meant they would agreed to send pictures and letters of Carly to Catelynn & Tyler. Any visits were on their terms.

I think it was a few months ago that Chelsea said that there are no issues between her and Adam at the moment and that Aubree sees him and things are going ok.


Also...Sophia, Bentley & Leah are all turning 15 this year.

Let's just let that sink in.

They should’ve chosen another couple who wanted a closed one then tbh. Also they went on an MTV show multiple times, I call bullshit on that excuse they always use. They shouldn’t punish Cate and Ty (and even Carly) for the show taking off as it’s not even their fault and they don’t need to be so nasty and controlling with the visits. They should see how bad it’s effecting them

I posted this before but there’s no law in Michigan about open adoptions. It’s only ever a promise.
Someone should have made that very clear to C&T.

I can see why Brandon and Teresea backed off. I think they like Cate but Tyler’s a problem. He‘s spoken before about them raising his child. She’s their daughter at the end of the day

Totally agree - they appeared on the show and reunions numerous times AND appeared on the front of a magazine

Yeah, I feel like their adoption counsellor Dawn let them down too. They were literally 16-17 years old signing legal documents that they had no understanding of.
 
I really feel for Cate and Tyler, they clearly love Carly and regret their decision every day. I think Tyler finds it very frustrating that B&T have the control over his daughter and cannot accept that she is technically their daughter and he has no rights. I imagine Cate and Tyler have a lot of what if we kept her type conversations. They haven’t always got it right but I think they always try to improve theirselves especially Tyler. I hope they get the contact they want with Carly in the end ❤️ Also little Nova is just the best! Her little voice

I agree, although Tylers mum seems more solid, I can’t remember what she was like during the adoption process though?

I think she’s okay now but I always wondered what kind of mum she was to Tyler. He speaks about how hard his childhood was and remember she was married to Butch.
Was she an addict too? I’ve always wondered about her because her and Butch seem so mismatched but they had 2 kids

I've always wondered this too as his mother always seemed so stable when she was on the show and the opposite of Tyler's dad. I don't remember a mention of any addiction issues.
Tyler's parents were never married to each other. I remember Tyler saying that his mother left when Tyler was 4 months old and she had to work 2 jobs to provide for him and his sister so they struggled a lot financially. Butch was in and out of prison his whole life and was addicted to drugs. So I imagine that's what he means when he mentions his tough childhood etc.
