I don’t think their issue is with Cate tbh. I think their problem is Tyler.
The way he used to talk about them giving B&T his kid. She’s not theirs and he needs to find a way of dealing with that.
Also I don’t think it about taking sides to think comments saying Carly will return home is just rude disrespectful

Yeah this was bad and that really confused me, good thing it was a one off though. But B&T are always being control freaks when it comes to Carly and have had C&T many times, I’d actually cry with them sometimes I felt so bad

Yeah Tyler had a hard time holding his anger in over them and I can’t lie, it’s one of the biggest losses someone can go through so tbh I’d have a hard time too. Cate just held it in and it manifested into her depression to the point she had to leave her other kids and check into a facility. I think this is down to the way B&T handled the adoption on top of the actual adoption regret itself. They seemed very insensitive and disrespectful at times. I really do hope Carly wants a much closer relationship with them once she turns 18 and tbh I don’t blame those commenting given what’s happened

They may be control freaks but also must be hard being constantly reminded she's not biologically related and seeing her birth parents go on the way they do and people saying she will be going back to them when she's 18. I can see it from both sides though , I get they were young and naive but it wasn't like she was taken away from them without a choice

I agree with this. If Tyler went on the way he used to, I would have reduced contact too. I would like to hear from someone else who had an open adoption that worked out because tbh I don’t see how it can.
If Carly knows the truth it must be so hard watching them with her siblings

I get it from both sides also. It must be so frustrating to know that is your daughter but you have no parenting rights, I know they gave her up but it was clear they never really wanted to - I think the anger comes from guilt more than anything, but they did what they thought was right at the time. On the other side they need to accept B&T are her parents day in day out they are Carly’s mum and dad and always will be. The 18 thing is weird, yes she can go and see them whenever she wants but why would she leave B&T again they are her parents she loves them Cate and Ty are strangers really.
Its a position I can’t say I’d ever want to be is so complex emotionally all round. Lets just hope Carly is okay and wont be to affected

Agreed. It was a really tough decision and yes probably they do regret it now but at the time for them it was the right decision. Of course they feel its their daughter, and it is, but with the legal adoption that girl is not theirs. Fans of C&T will say about when Carly is older she can go back to them but I would have thought by now she knows the situation and probably has counselling understands. Fans of anyone usually are a tad crazy and bias. I just hope Carly has a great life with contact with all her family not just her sisters but all ger family, Parents and Grandparents.
 
I think they should keep their meetings with Carly private, or at least leave out the long caption in the posts. They need to tread carefully now she is a teenager, I don’t think they think for a minute that she will likely want to stay with B&T when she is 18. They are REALLY private moments, her life story has already been plastered over TV for her whole life give her some privacy!

C&T on the other hand are really pushing boundaries and none of this can be helping Carly. And this is only what we know about, I can imagine way more has gone on behind the scenes.

I don't B&T are controlling, but I do think that the frustration from C & T (particularly Tyler) stems from them moving the goalposts constantly. On the show we saw that there used to be annual visits and then they back tracked on that and it became maybe every 2-3 years, they didn't always send pictures/letters when they were supposed to, Teresa wouldn't respond to Catelynns texts for months on end. That must have been heartbreaking.

Whilst I agree with what you're saying about Carly needing privacy, I think it is so often forgotten that B&T have chosen to appear on TM and attended the reunions over the years and appeared with Carly on the front cover of a magazine.

I think the bottom line here is that C&T were taken advantage of and signed documents at 16/17 years old that they were not in a position to even begin to comprehend. It's sad. Their story fascinates me.

Whilst I agree with what you're saying about Carly needing privacy, I think it is so often forgotten that B&T have chosen to appear on TM and attended the reunions over the years and appeared with Carly on the front cover of a magazine.

They didn’t send letters when they were supposed to but then the clip I mentioned shows Cate and Tyler don’t always respond when they get pictures

B&T agreed to appear on bits on TM but we don’t know how that’s impacted Carly and what she has asked for.
It’s better they’ve given her privacy then as a child rather than when it’s too late.
People talk about the magazine like it wasn’t years ago

I wish this had actually been shown on the show - it would have given a different perspective.
Also - remember the scrap book incident. That was ridiculous.

It was years ago, but the magazine cover came after they made the big decision of not showing Carly on the show.
 
Hope it's ok I jump in, obviously Tyler and Cate couldn't know their lives would change so much mainly because TM would continue after the one season. Neither did T and B and I think that is partly why they reduced contact even more as Carly got older to protect her from the attention of the extra seasons and social media posts.
I do feel for Ty and Cate as they were so young and poorly advised by Dawn, just hope they can continue all moving forward in away that benefits them.

BIB - but as her parents, B&T can pick and choose what they want to do, they don’t have to explain to anyone, Carly is their daughter. Sadly for them, C&T have no rights at all.
