Ted Lasso

Hmmm, I don’t know if it’s “lost its way” but this season definitely feels different - think it could’ve benefited from a few less episodes so less filler (I’m looking at you, KJPR!). The longer runtime doesn’t bother me as much. Nothing beats S2 imo

I'd put spoilers but if you haven't watched it after two days that's not my fault (and I can't remember how to do it):

Nate and his girlfriend being 'cringe' is the point; he is not the supercool guy he wanted to be and is slowly showing himself again; the awkward, nerdy, needy little Nate.
He defended the restaurant against his dopey model date and has been uniformly cute in asking the waitress for a date; a BIG Nate moment was him not spitting at himself in the mirror.

The show was never about football; it has always been about people, making mistakes and learning and becoming better versions of themselves.

I wonder if it ends with Ted going home and Nate being accepted back to Richmond...

Also, Roy asking Keely what he does (and his anger at himself after) is such a realistic thing for an insecure person to do and then Jamie doing what HE does is just a perfect thing for him to do after his redemption arc.

I love this show!!

I loved season 1 & 2 definitely feel it’s lost its way a littleI sort of feel like I want them to ‘get on with it’ with all of things they are foreshadowing which I never felt with the others.
Barbara is the only KJPR thing worth mentioning. Keely was so much better part of the Richmond gang. To think I was worried they would get her and Jamie back together! That would be better than the current storyline.
Such a lovely heartwarming show though usually. Football is just the bonus in the background.

I think that, with this possibly being the last season, they are trying to give everyone their moment and to allow the characters to learn and grow and achieve their potential before the show ends and we get the inevitable Coach Beard spin-off.

I agree, it feels very ‘lost’ indeed and I’m pretty disappointed in this series so far.
It’s still ‘nice’ enough to watch, but it’s not as engrossing or ‘must see’ as it used to be. It definitely feels like they’re floating and have no clue what I do with any of the characters so are veering off into heavy-handed ‘issue of the week’ distractions.

I did read that JT wasn’t available to film at the same time as the rest of the cast, so that’s why she’s been put with new characters and separate storylines, but given that she was only ever ‘secondary cast‘ anyway I don’t know why it was deemed necessary to give her a whole new set up and so much screen time. And if they were determined to pursue the KJPR route, could they not have shown her and Rebecca discussing the difficulties of being a woman in business, rather than the tedium of them talking about nothing but their love lives? Major Bechdel fail 🙄

There are only a few episodes to go until the programme is finished for good and I still have no idea what the over-arching arc of this series is. That Nate was a crap baddie for a week but looks like he’s going to be rehabilitated by a waitress’s magic vagina? That the owner of a football team is more interested in psychic predictions about a potential pregnancy than the fact that the team is having a crap season and their world-beating signing buggered off after a fortnight? That the eponymous lead character would clearly rather be anywhere on the planet right now? 🤷‍♀️

I'm looking forward to the next episode; I hope there is no fall-out after Isaac saw what was on Colin's phone.
I can't see it being an issue, per se, but perhaps Isaac will feel bad or even angry that Colin felt he had to hide it?

Hopefully Jack is out of the picture, and Roy apologises properly for being a dick (as realistic as it was, asking Keeley what he did was just so sad to watch... those two should be together!!).

When Roy went over to Keeley I was shouting at the TV 'give her a hug' then I shouted 'you twit' :ROFLMAO:

They should be back together though.

I really didn’t like the bit between Issac and Colin. The whole scene was about respecting privacy, and after demanding they all get rid of their pics (fair) when it looked as though someone wasn’t doing what he said, Issac went and snatched the phone out of Colin’s hand.. invading his privacy. They should have written that a lot better.

I agree; it didn't feel like Isaac at all.
If somebody took my phone like that they'd get a punch in the throat.
I hope it is resolved in the new episode!

I think what they’re doing by having all the characters have their own storylines and have the chance to grow (Roy stepping up as coach, Colin, Sam and his Dad etc) is to show us that Ted has done everything he wanted/needed to do. Much like Mary Poppins, he can move on and they'll all be fine.
