Does anyone else find Sue Perkins eyelashes disconcerting? I'm not sure if they're extensions or falsies, but they're SO dense behind her glasses and I feel like they don't match the rest of her look at all. She was on the Taskmaster podcast this week and it made me SLIGHTLY warm to her, though she is not my cup of tea. I love the other 4, especially Julian. His "yes I did that for you, whoever you are" to Alex this week was wonderfully delivered.
Omg, yes. Since the first episode, I haven't been able to concentrate on anything but her eyelashes whenever she's doing a task because they look so false and weirdly shaped. Like ones you'd expect on a drag act.

Random q not series related. Which contestants (if any!) do you think / know weren't friends before the series they were on but now are? Not ones that were friends before just ones who are only pals cos of TM?

Yes same here 😬
The tasks all seemed a bit woolly and vague. The stupid robots one, Sam was completely right it was 'a dud' 😂 (I still love him so much).
The tasks that work best are the ones that frustrate the contestants, but are then revealed to have a simple solution.
Thought Sam had it spot on that it could’ve been devised by a child! I miss the old school tasks with the answer written in Spanish on a barge! Alex did keep asking whether they’d found a secret task earlier in the series. Hopefully that’s not a bluff and there is something ingenious going on!

I wonder if, ironically, since the move to C4 they’ve had their budget cut. The tasks are nowhere near as expansive or clever as they used to be, and they all seem to be rather ‘cheap’

They do seem to have a really quick turn around in series too so maybe it needs more time between them in order to come up with some fresh ideas. Maybe a new creator alongside Alex.

I watched the first episode from series 2 yesterday, the tasks throughout the show weren’t expensive at all, they were relatively straightforward but all could be won if you thought out of the box.

Four out of the five contestants were household names, all regulars on prime time tv. That was also half the attraction, watching people you recognise making an idiot of themselves or wow you with their intelligence.

The pure genius of destroying Joe Wilkinson’s potato in a hole triumph still has me laughing 24hrs later 😂

That is up there with the best Taskmaster moments ever. Some of the tasks that were really cheap, like the beach balls up the hill, were brilliant because of the interpretations. Looking at you Richard Osman.

To me, the best tasks are those you wish you could do yourself because they look like so much fun. I'm thinking of the season 8 'approach Alex' train station bridge task, or the 'find all ducks' from series 13, 'push the trolley' from season 14. I also love a really simple premise that allows creativity and brings out the personality of contestants like the shoe catapult from season 10, guess shoe, write a jingle, propose to Alex etc.
Everything that's overly complicated and tedious with lots of rules to remember just annoys me.

I really enjoyed that season with the train station/museum! Like the one with the fruit under the bowls on the picnic tables where the answer was sneakily everywhere.
