There is apparently a relaunch in the works (I suspect a last-ditch bid to make a success of it). The plan looks to be a full TV format all day. Don't know anything else beyond that.

Can't understand why talk is doing so badly? did problems start before they televised it? Or have they exacerbated it's demise?
Has the company been fighting litigation behind the scenes from activists?
What's changed?

Nothing like that, I don't think. More that the viewing figures are simply abysmal.

Good question.
I stopped watching bbc itv ch4 ch5 and freeview sky news when all the covid stuff was happening.
I started to listen to Mike Graham in the mornings and he kept saying his show audience figures were increasing hugely.

Then the tv/radio simulcast thing happened which seemed to be working ok. I'm sure he said his figures were still rising.

Then Piers Morgan joined and I stopped listening in the evenings.

I still listen to Mike Graham occassionally but I don't think I've heard him mention ratings for a while.

It's obviously a matter of taste which presenters we listen to but like yourself I don't like piers and I've heard not many do. Is it just a case of a few unpopular presenters? But also are the rumours true or the extreme left making tit up?
Maybe there's no room for talk anymore with the popularity of GB news?
I don't listen religiously but there's usually one show per day I like and would miss it should it go.

I dont know who is popular and who is not. I do remember the ratings for Piers plummeted after his first 2 shows featuring Donald Trump.
They were high for that, then fell massively and have stayed down low.

I watch GBnews a bit too.
That also has presenters I don't like.
But it has some I do.
i just like that they try to cover stuff the main channels dont and as you say, which presenters are liked is down to personal taste.

I hope Talk stays but I'd be ok with it being radio only again.

They're utter fools if they want to go full TV and ditch the radio part that is doing well. The writing is on the wall - nobody cares about what is partly a Rupert Murdoch vanity project and partly an attempt to get Piers Morgan & Jeremy Kyle popular again.

I don’t think they are ditching the radio part as such - I suspect what will happen is shows like JHB and Mike Graham will just be presented from a TV studio.

Hah hah those are two of their shows I avoid.

They repeat them as well but I still switch off!!

The Hartley-Brewer show just won a TRIC award.
Thats either a public vote or a panel of industry people, not sure.

I assume ratings for her are ok.

Dunno though.
It's hard to know which fugures online are accurate.

The TRIC is a public vote. Not sure how reliable it is as these things tend to have a habit of being engineered to go a certain way.

The i today says officially Murdoch still supports TalkTV, but is apparently looking at buying The Spectator. At the end of the article there are suggestions that he may ultimately buy GB News and merge it with Talk.

As I believe he did with Sky/BSB back in the day. In many ways it would make sense as the two have similarities as right-leaning broadcasters and both may struggle to survive independently. It'll be fascinating to watch.

I can't see the GB News owner wanting to do a deal to help Murdoch out. Especially given GB News is doing double the numbers of TalkTV at the moment, and both in competition with one another. They will probably just poach a couple of their presenters if it goes tits up. I wonder where TalkTV get their views from as if it wasn't for Piers, who they got? I don't even watch Piers to be honest. I like Kevin O'Sullivan at the weekends though.

Changes to the schedule next week. Ian Collins will now finish at 3pm instead of 4pm and Kevin O'Sullivan will be doing an hour show before Vanessa starts at 4pm. All seems at bit odd with Kev on with Mike 9.30am until 10am and now 3pm until 4pm. I wonder how Ian Collins feels re this?

2 hours for Kev - until 5. I also wonder what Ian's opinion is on it. As for Vanessa, her losing an hour makes me think she'll be out when her contract is up. Probably quite expensive to have her 5 days a week and she blatantly isn't popular with the audience.

I'm assuming Kev loses his weekend slots. Otherwise that's an insane schedule for him.

If I were doing the schedules, I'd axe Vanessa, move Ian to drive, Petrie to afternoons, Cristo to late nights.

If he's getting paid about the same then probably loves it haha, doing 5 less hours per week. I prefer Kevin to Ian anyway, so good to know he's on weekdays rather than weekends.

They'll all be laid off soon enough, I wouldn't worry about some minor changes in the schedule. (I'm not laughing for the people who work behind the scenes).
