Didn't realise that there was a thread for TR!

Generally a good station. I know that Julia isn't everyone's cup of tea but she is skilled at grilling the useless government folks and doing the serious news topics so is well suited to breakfast.

I agree with all comments above on Mike Graham - definitely a good presenter, always puts on an interesting and intelligent show. Always try to listen to that show when possible.

I miss Dan Wootton on drive, never liked him as a journalist at the Sun but I actually enjoyed his show. With the exception of his opening monologues which are often an intriguing listen, Mark Dolan is a bit too lightweight for that slot. I feel like his style would suit an evening show much better.

Can't stand James Whale, too carnaptious. Only ever do evenings when Kevin O'Sullivan is on (Fridays and occasionally fills in if James is off). Cristo is OK when not obsessed with cyclists. I'm seldom awake at 5am and am usually busy during afternoons so can't comment much on Ian Collins or James Max.

Weekend lineup is a bit weak at times, they've kinda ran out of people to hire and have resorted to silly filler shows after 4pm. Who really cares about highlight shows, podcasts or those celeb interviews?

Mark Dolan today trailing his show:

"Just who is Bill gates and how did he make his money"

How stupid does he think the audience is?

"We know billionaires don't like to give any of their money away"

He says about the guy who famously gives away 5 billion a year 😆 oh it's time for Eddie Mair

The setup on college green for Mike Graham is pretty professional with multil cameras etc. But their internet connection is terrible so even when the video is working it's a low frame rate mess and they've just had a few minutes off the air and have to cut the video all together. You'd think there would be access to world class broadband without the expense of a Comms van or whatever sky/BBC news use?

There were sometimes issues with the connection when I was listening (3 of the shows that day were at College Green) but apparently they ended up being the only TV/radio station who bothered turning up on Tuesday.

Another out of studio show tomorrow as Mike Graham is doing a pub show with Kevin O'Sullivan co-presenting.

I heard Mike say that, but noticed the BBC were inside in a building overlooking Westminster and sky are the only ones to always have a studio based in Westminster (although a bit of a waste of money during covid as no one goes inside😆). I think the others weren't risking outdoors with the weather. Talk radio had the best visuals - when they worked

I had to turn off Darryl Morris this morning again. I've said it before but his staccato speech pattern makes me on-edge. My actual switch-over this morning came as soon as I heard the bingo phrase "my girlfriend Michaela".

And, without being accentist, it took me a while to understand what he was saying when I kept hearing "work" then realised he was saying "woke".

I used to listen to him overnight and he did tend to go on about how hard it was for him working in London, the odd hours etc being tired etc, he seemed to be hating it. I thought one of the golden rules of overnight and early morning radio was to broadcast without reference to it being so late or so early or being tired. Being a guy in his 20s I thought it wasn't the best approach for someone trying to make his way in broadcasting.

I might be bias because I'm a fan, but does anybody else think Howard Hughes has one of the best voices on radio? When you think of radio, his voice is it.
Yes, I agree. I listen to him on Sunday nights as his voice is so calming, it helps me relax as I get anxious before my working week begins. I felt a bit worried for him though as he seemed quite isolated during lockdown, I think it affected him quite alot and he's trying hard to soldier on. He puts a lot of work into his shows, not like lazy old wafflers eg Steve Allen who just show up, yap and go home. Howard sometimes mentions he has to deal with his very old computer so I do wonder if money is an issue for him, if he can't buy another as a professional tool.

Cristo & James Whale finished with their respective slots.

Whale is heading to 10pm (any other stations to listen to at that time?) and Darryl Morris on Fri/Sat nights. Kevin O'Sullivan on 7pm all of next week, rumours that Cristo is getting a weekend slot.

Can't stand Whale and I imagine that he'll be cantankerous as normal as opposed to Cristo's more chilled out show which was ideal for that time of night so not at all happy at this, why did they have to change it? At least it seems like we have more of Kevin on weekdays I guess.

Thanks for the update. I'll miss Cristo at that time, I don't mind JW when I catch bits but I can't imagine tuning in every night.

I'll be avoiding Darryl Morris whatever time he is on because of his rapid, jittery delivery which puts me on edge Oh, and the excessive mentions of "my girlfriend Michaela" and whingeing about his routine, travel, London.

I like K O'S.

Is this change permanent? What does everyone think about trisha Goddard? I don't know who she's replacing or when she's on. Can't think of any female presenters I like so I'll be interested to hear her show

She's on 1pm Saturdays, replacing Bob Mills who is now Sunday only.

Will be interesting to see what she can bring to the table, she is a well known signing and experienced broadcaster so could be good. She was on Kevin's show as a guest and said that she'll be looking at some of the moral issues behind the news so it might be a discussion type of show.

What do you think of Mike Graham? I don't agree with everything he says, but he does make me laugh. I have him on for background company, rather than JOB who I find terminally depressing; or those 2 idiots on This Morning with their "hilarious" childish innuendo and giggling.
Sorry for late response - just found this thread! Love me some Mike. I don’t always agree with him but he sure has a funny way of talking and taking the piss out of everything.
Also really rate Julia Hartley-Brewer - she’s ace

Julia is good for breakfast, I love when she does the interviews with politicians.

So glad Kevin's got a new slot, not surprised he's in all week, he's my fave. I liked his regular guests so I hope some still join him like Charlie Ray, they crack me up when they laugh, same with ally ross

His podcast with Mike cracks me up every week. They have quality banter. Can only cope with Kevin in small doses though.
