Sorry new to this thread and admittedly didn't read the 45 pages, is Shiv supposed to be 20 plus weeks pregnant by now?? How come not showing? Yes you can dress cleverly but how can he not tell when they are having sex??

No, Shiv isn't 20 weeks pregnant. Let me help you get up to speed (and everyone else who seems to be confused).

Season 4 is supposed to be spread out in 10 days (that's what Jesse Armstrong, the writer behind the show confirmed). Each episode of Season 4 = 1 day.

She's less than 20 weeks. The doctor said she will let her know or schedule her before her 20 week scan. This is why Shiv is also trying to blend in with the male dominated world of Succession with a drink here and there. No, she didn't snort the cocaine with Mattson either. She's still very early in her first trimester. For risks of drinking alcohol in the first trimester, please read here - https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog...-in-pregnancy-and-birth-problems-201309106667

^ I don't condone drinking during pregnancy at all. Also, the fact that Tom didn't realize Shiv is pregnant while shagging her is a common TV trope. Some men/women, yes, can tell if their wife/partner is pregnant or not but some people are completely oblivious.

Also, Sarah Snook being visibly pregnant has nothing to do with the show, her pregnancy doesn't follow the same timeline as her character's pregnancy.

Jesse Armstrong said Episode 8 will be shocking which is election night.

I have a strong feeling Jimenez will win and there will be riots.

ShivTom truther are in tatters. They still live unhappily ever after imo

I also like the fact that Willa and Connor are the only stable couple in this show and he listens and defends her (and vice versa) at all costs. Connor has suddenly grown a backbone since he learnt Logan passed away. So much respect for him now!

Also, THIS, is a great article with the character Nate from the show. Must read to understand the latest episode better. https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/succession-election-nate-ashley-zukerman-kendall-1235604565/

i keep seeing the stuff about each episode being spread out over 1 day. That clearly wasn’t the case in both episode 5 and 6.

This episode sure didn’t feel like the next day? Frank acted like the Geri sacking had been a while ago?
The Shiv pregnancy is just stupid now. No swollen breasts? No morning sickness? No tiredness at all? She hasn’t even yawned!

Connor really is Teflon coated isn’t he? How he can have grown up surrounded by this fuckery and be about to sail off in to the sunset with an almost happy marriage and a $65M house together with a future on the lecture circuit is worthy of applause.

He also had the stand out lines of last night from the classic woman about Oman to Mogadishu being too car-bomby and not wanting to go somewhere without nukes! (Points to Greg too for his loyalty to KenRo).

I did genuinely worry for Tom towards the end, the balcony scene made me worry for him going off the edge, but glad he just retired to the spare room instead.

Bring on next weeks riots!

Are we watching the same show? It was definitely the next day because Roman scolded Mattson about not being able to bury their Dad and the deal almost killing their Dad.

Episode 6, Connor is in the embalming room and talking about Marcia's request about Logan being in a kilt as a nod to his Scottish heritage.

Episode 7 was about funeral arrangements. Judging by the episode title of Episode 9 i.e. Church and State, that might be the funeral episode that the Daily Mail posted pictures about months ago while they were filming.

No, the Gerri sacking was definitely the previous day. High profile people like that can definitely gather an entire team for damage control etc.

There are bigger plotholes in this show than Shiv's pregnancy really.

It’s not EXACTLY one day for each episode but it’s very very close.
season 4 starts 6 months after S3.

Day/episode 1: kids in LA trying to do Pierce, Logan in NY for his birthday, 48 hours before GoJo deal - 1 full day
Day 2: Logan at ATN, siblings in Albany, GoJo sale tomorrow, Connor’s rehearsal in the evening, GoJo deal delayed Logan arranges to see Mattson the next day - 1 full day
Day 3: I guess we know… connor’s wedding. One full day
Day 4: aftermath of E3, set completely in Logan’s home - one full day
Day 5: kids start at Waystar, summoned to Norway by Mattson, fly home next day - basically two days
Day 7: not the same day as E5 at all - kids go to LA the day before Living+ - 2 full days
Day 9: not the same day as E6, but one full day too.

so we’re up to 9 days and we are only on Episode 7 - seems likely it’s a two week period to me

Superb scene with Tom and Shiv last night. That balcony glass must be top quality as none of the guests seemed to hear anything. I also got definite jumping off the balcony vibes, which they've done before with Kendall on the roof of the Waystar building.

I wasn't thrilled to see the return of creepy Nate, but he wasn't quite as slimy this time, at least. I loved the hark back to the wine at Tom and Shiv's wedding.

I'm going to miss next week's episode as I'm on holiday.😭

Thank you so much for typing all of this out!!! You are very good to do that. Ok i misheard the doctor, I thought she said she was 20 weeks. Also when she slipped and fell I thought she might lose the baby or threatened miscarriage but I don't think it mentioned it since?

A very interesting article about Shiv’s pregnancy - it explains why, in the script, she’s apparently spent a lot of recent time getting vigorously naked with Tom and he seemingly hasn’t noticed a single change in her body (because, even at less than 20wks, there are not many women who are showing absolutely no physical changes whatsoever, especially once undressed)

There is merit in the Shiv using a surrogate theory. It would be de rigueur in their circles plus it fits with Shiv’s character that she would find pregnancy and childbirth an inconvenience and icky. They outsource everything else. And the doctor referring to ‘your scan’ fits with how surrogacy works for the uber wealthy (your baby therefore your scan etc - the surrogate is erased as much as possible).
Given the tight timelines of the season we might not find out 😱

This is a very good point, you'd wonder alright.

Especially given that Ebba engineered a very public announcement that she wished she didn't have to work for Lukas, spilled the beans about the ‘dodgy figures’ with very little persuasion, and also happened to conveniently mention that Mattson never really understood the company and just got lucky with someone else’s coding.

I think they want shot of GoJo but need to play the dim Roys’ egos to make them want the company and make them think that they’re cleverly getting one over on everyone.

We keep being reminded (even again at the start of this very episode) that Logan didn’t think his kids were ‘serious people’ or that he feared they’d duck everything up. Logan might have been a crappy father, but he knew what was what where business is concerned, and he’s right that not one of them is up to the job.
Mattson’s shafting them. Look at the wedge he drove between Shiv and Tom after they’d been at it like rabbits and on the brink of reconciliation. He’s either an utter douche or a master manipulator (or, indeed, both) - very much like Logan was.

I ❤ Con! He’s been my favourite character this series.

same!

of all the roy children, i think he will be “happiest” in the end. he has a wife/companion who is always going to be in his corner, he is a decent person and has the most goodness in his core, he has that amazing ranch away from it all…. the other three always discount and forget him, but i think that worked in his favour in the end.

I didn’t say episode 5 didn’t start the day after episode 4 etc. I just each episode is not 1 day.

Episode 5 takes place over 3 days. The kids arrive at waystar in the morning and they arrive in Norway in the day time. It’s impossible for this to be the same day - it takes at least 7 hours to fly from NY to Norway and on top of that there’s a time difference of 6 hours. So waystar offices to arriving Norway = 1 day has passed. We see them go through a full day in Norway and then there is the new negotiation between Roman, Matsson and Kendall the next morning.

In Episode 6 there are 2 days. In the first day we see Kendall telling them to build the living + house overnight. The actual presentation is the next day.

I’ve nicked this from Reddit, but here’s a list of loose ends that potentially need tying up in the final three episodes (though I’m sure some will be left dangling):

  1. Marcia and her place in the company and the will based on her many “intimate” conversations.
  2. Kendall and the waiter, which his siblings and Marcia know about.
  3. Shiv’s baby which could have ramifications for her, Tom, and others.
  4. Sandy, Stewy, Logan’s brother, Adrien Brody, and the board who have been eerily silent for several episodes but we know that they are sophisticated operators entirely capable of cutting their own deals.
  5. Pierce…and whatever is going to happen there.
  6. The election, Connor, and Mencken…both the outcome and ATNs relationship with him.
  7. Tom’s current level of destabilization which could cause him to (a) do something erratic at ATN to influence the election, (b) rat out Shiv to her brothers, (c) everything in between.
  8. The India numbers (or the possibility it’s all a trap Mattson and Ebba are laying)
  9. The Living+ numbers (which aren’t just numbers but numbers)
  10. Roman’s deteriorating psychological state and what it could cause him to do (there are at least two characters who could do harm to themselves)
  11. Logan’s actual will (presumably the kids inherit and could control the board but who knows)
  12. The actions of the old guard now that they know the kids are trying to sink the deal (Frank, Gerri, Karl who is a legend in cable).

That’s A LOT of big stuff to resolve! 😱

Oh, and we haven’t even had the funeral yet!
