Am I the only one who wishes they didn't bring out the costumes again for the repeated dances??

In the earlier series you used to get a more ‘glammed up’ version of your earlier costume, so it felt a bit more special. So Alesha’s original cha cha dress was white with gold trim, but her version for the final was the same style but all gold.

Sadly the budget cuts and bargain-basement costumes mean that’s long dead now. ☹

I find it hard to believe Rose really chose a shamaltzy song like The Rose from the 80s as her show dance.

I think out of all those songs, they will sound most amazing doing You Got The Love, but that's mainly because I've heard a gospel choir do it before.

Are talking about the boys as matadors? Because we need to see how it's really done as opposed to Tom aka Dougal from Father Ted in his matador costume.

Why is it favouritism? Janette has been a part of the show for almost a decade and still works on the team, so no reason why she shouldn’t be given the chance to dance again

I do see your point, but imo I think Luba/Jowita or even Dianne who had to bow out early would have been a better choice. Janette chose to leave her role as dancer on the show after all, so unless he is leaving I think it is poor form to turn up and dance in the final of a season she wasn't even involved in rather than giving the benched pros the opportunity. Did she not get enough of the spotlight back when she did the pro group dances anyway?

I can't agree with this. Luba, Jowita and Dianne have all had leads in the pro dances and danced with the music performers at least once. They are also all in the Christmas special.

Janette hasn't given up dancing and is still very much in the Strictly family - I see absolutely no reason why she shouldn't dance and I wouldn't be surprised if dancing in the final wasn't one of the conditions when she signed up for the ITT gig.

Woof, the thought of John's calves in those matador tights have made me go a bit weak.

Yes, I was wondering whether it will a 'Janette dances on Strictly for one last time' sort of thing. Because she was originally signed up to this series, so she had her last dance last year without even realising

True, but I don't feel like that is the same as getting partnered with a pro. With Jowita I supposed you could argue its only her first year, at least Dianne had Robert Webb this year, but Luba for example spends an awful lot of time on the bench for one reason or another - whereas Janette was partnered every year and led a lot of the group dances.

She may still be part of Strictly but she chose to go over to the presenting role over the dancing role so I don't think she should get priority over the current pros to dance to a major pop star on final night. If it really is a 'one final dance' thing then I suppose that is fair enough, otherwise it is a bit tacky imo. Contract or not.

Eh, I don't know. Perhaps the other pros wanted her to have a spot to dance after knowing her for so long?

I got the feeling with her saying how much she missed being a pro, she actually might not come back to ITT next year and go back to the main show, if you see what I mean. But who knows? I'm not really bothered by who dances when Ed Sheeran plays that's when I'll go and make a cuppa.
