So this a complete non story from the fail (🙄)...but genuinely, has anyone checked that McFurlough isn't running around in a Scooby Doo mask backstage??
Maybe they should check on John just in case... 😂

Whilst it is very unfortunate what has happened to AJ, we do need to remember that John and Rose have also worked extremely hard to make it that far. Would be a shame to not watch in my opinion
I feel sad about it now but am sure I'll be in a frame of mind to watch by the time tomorrow rolls around. Not looking forward to the sad It Takes Two, however đŸ˜„

I think next year production seriously need to consider having bye weeks where there’s no eliminations should anyone have to withdraw for any reason. Obviously this should only be used as emergency contingency but it would mean we don’t end up in a situation like this with a two person final.
Additional celebs wouldn’t work as they’ve always had (at least recently) benched spare pros in case the pros themselves get hurt.
Didn’t think of that, guess it only worked because of the shorter series last year. Definitely think having a no elimination week would work if someone drops out.

I can't recall ever having two withdrawals in one series, so I doubt they will change too much of the format.
What might be worth considering if doing what DWTS Ireland does is midway through do a switch up week with the partnerships and have no public vote. It gives a bit of leeway with the numbers without having to increase the amount of couples.
That way you will likely get at least 4 couples in the final if not 3.

I think this would be the fairest thing to do even in a 'normal' year - by reducing the number of people in the final instead, they are just ensuring one of the stronger dancers misses out at the last hurdle when they would've made it to the final otherwise. Like Rhys would be dancing tomorrow if Robert hadn't had to drop out (ofc not Robert's fault, these things happen).

I'd rather they just gave all the remaining dancers a free pass to the next week if someone drops out.

However, this would mean the BBC losing out on the income from phone voting for that week, so it's not likely to happen.

People saying already who they are voting probs the same people who gave out about the judges voting for their favourites in the dance off instead of the better dancer on the night 😂
to be fair everyone has there favourite by now and will vote for them no matter how good or bad they dance on the night. look at stacey dooley a few years back she probably had the worst ever showdance and still won.

Could they get people to vote for their favourite dancers that night, reveal the results at the results show, and carry that over to the next night. So bottom 2 would know they needed to work harder the next week to try stay in?

fingers crossed it doesn't happen but what happens if either john or rose gets covid, will it be like the squid game and last one standing wins or will it just get cancelled.

Is this the worst series in terms of withdrawl and missing a week (of course cant really be helped due to covid)??

We've had:

- Tom and Amy miss 1 week due to covid
- Ugo and Oti miss 1 week due to an injury
- Robert and Dianne withdraw from the competition due to Robert's health condition
- Judi and Graziano miss 1 week due to covid
- Craig miss 1 week due to covid
- Motsi miss 1 week due to covid
- Aj and Kai withdraw from the competition due to injury

And Tilly and Karen missing the final (covid/injury).

Even if you take all the covid absences out of the equation, this series is by far the worst ever for injuries/withdrawals.

They could still have a vote as normal but carry the votes over a week if they were that desperate for £££. They know in advance before Saturday (usually) if a couple is unable to dance so a short Sunday show could still go out with the music guest, pros and dance debrief (I’m sure they could find some other random waffle to fill the time slot)

Obviously a bye week would really be a last resort but I really think it should be considered after this year.

This works great & I think it is something that needs to be considered.

I wonder how the Pros would feel about it? It's very exposing for them because the stats really show up which Pros are superior teachers.
Take Kai his original partner would often get lower scores and his new partner would get higher scores almost every time.

How good the pro is is definitely a factor, but there are also other considerations such as how well the pro's teaching style and personality matches the celebrity and how well the dance suits them. The celebrity would also be drawing on everything they'd learnt from their original pro to start with.

(if it happens on a consistent basis though we can give moer weight to the quality of the pro in general)

I wish the final could be postponed so that everyone involved could be there, Tilly, Karen, AJ, Kai. I wouldn’t mind waiting on it.

No disrespect to Tilly & Karen but they aren’t really essential to the final as they had already been eliminated so why would it matter whether they take part?

But yes in principle it’s a shame we can’t postpone until the new year so AJ could take part but we could be waiting months, Covid variants not withstanding

It’s so sad! I really feel for her.

Given the fact that we are still very much in a pandemic you would’ve thought the bbc would’ve had a “no vote” week at the start to let all of the dancers have a settling in period and give themselves a bit of breathing space as the show went on.
