I don’t know how much goes into pairing them up, but I think they need more than a couple of days together to decide who will work best. Start making it part of the contract to commit to a couple of weeks in the summer of pro testing, and actually listen to the feedback from both sides as to who they got on with and who they didn’t
 
Production IMO should meet with all of the celebs and get a strong idea of what that celeb needs in a pro. None of this requesting nonsense that we seemed to get last year, I can get if you sign a really big name celeb for the show that they might have some leverage but a Bobby Brazier really shouldn't have the clout to essentially choose his partner.

And perhaps they need to be a bit more emotionally intelligent. Don't pair up people who are complete opposites personality-wise (Richie & Gio), you're just asking for trouble. And if you have a celeb who is either sensitive or with a history of health conditions (either mental or physical), give them to a pro who can be patient.

Of course there are some celebs who wouldn't get along with any pro.

Yes, I think the pairings were really good. (I guess apart from the obvious - Gio and Amanda.)

There's nobody really I would have swopped around.
I liked the fact that it was Katya who first danced with Krishnan, he mentioned that she was the one who met up with him, to try out a bit of dancing, when he was mulling over accepting or not. He and Lauren were a lovely pairing.

And I loved Katya and Nigel, I was so happy that they were paired, and will always be a little bit sad that they didn't get to compete all the way to the end. Layton and Nikita were a dream team. Kai was the exactly right partner for Angela R. Angela S and Carlos were soulmates, imo. JoJo and Annabel, perfect.

And so on.

There was a peculiar dynamic at play there, whatever it was. I distinctly remember them on ITT and he had his hand clasped firmly on her knee. Not in the touchy feely way most of them act, but as if he felt he had to show how wonderful things were between them.

It might have been after the story about them having a row during training, I think she was supposed to have stormed out, but then the media make stories out of nothing when it comes to Strictly so that didn't tell us anything.
 
Pretty much the entire second half of the cast had perfect partnerships last year. Bobby & Dianne were the weakest one but that's far from the worst we'd ever seen. Ellie/Vito, Layton/Nikita, Annabel/Johannes, Nigel/Katya, Angela S/Carlos, Angela R/Kai and Krishnan/Lauren. All great pairings.

Even if none managed a memorable partnership, the 3 pros on duffer duty were at least graceful about it unlike some.

And so saga continues, wonder which choreography has come forward and I’m guessing this isn’t in defence of Gio. Strictly need to leak the celebs or get Vito and Ellie to announce their engagement to try and deflect from this:

This is interesting:
Meanwhile, head judge Shirley Ballas is under pressure to stop discussing the case.

A source said: “The BBC have been clear nobody should comment on this case while it’s ongoing. Yet Shirley has repeatedly expressed what she thinks in interviews. It’s causing a great deal of distress to the alleged victims, who have respected the BBC’s request to not make any comments.”

I can imagine if you feel he's been abusive to you to have the Head Judge doing her Pick Me routine about what a gent he is would be tit.

We need a full-frontal leak to distract attention but with our luck it'll be Neil.. -

I have said the exact same upthread.

She is very unprofessional as the head judge in many ways, and this blabbing compounds it, imo. She has a very lucrative contract with the Beeb, for a very very soft job. She needs to STFU. I'd laugh if they gave her the boot.
