I liked AJ a lot at the time but quickly went off him when he flounced, and thank God he did or they never would have hired Nikita.

I seem to recall he fucked off - after he was announced as back - not very long at all before the start of lockdowns. Covid was definitely in the news and known to be becoming a big problem at the time. You didn't need to be a bleeping soothsayer to guess that it was a bad time to be undertaking new ventures in the entertainment business. He's an idiot.

 
Apparently he said he was leaving 26 March 2020 - a couple of days after lockdown was announced! I guess he thought it would only be a few weeks: way to read the tealeaves, AJ!

An eagle-eyed person on Twitter spotted in the background of the Vito/Dianne pic the other day a rack of clothes that seems to have Nikita's sweatshirt from the Something Just Like This dance, so it looks like they're doing that on the tour!
 
I remember at the time thinking AJ was leaving because those spring tours had just been cancelled and he was thinking of rescheduling his for the autumn so he wasn't out of pocket. But yeah, he definitely quit after everything had started to shut down. I think Kevin might have quit before covid so that was genuinely unlucky and not simply poor judgement

Looking at AJ's insta, he struggles to get even a few hundred likes on most of his posts so I doubt he making much money off influencing or that dodgy looking investment thing he's plugging

There's no matinee - just the two evening shows in Manchester & London. Less is more, really. Better to play two venues at full(ish) capacity than a big bunch of half empty theatres. People who keep insisting they travel to every far flung corner of the UK don't seem to realise this.

I'm really curious to see how well tickets sell and how much they cost, too 🤔

I don't think that can be true. They don't tell pros they are on the bench that early, and it seems unlikely they'd have benched AJ as he was fairly popular. They also didn't know then that the show would have a reduced run in the autumn due to Covid.

Looked on Ticketmaster and Layton and Nikita tickets seem to be £44-64 and £50-70 in London (then VIP etc). I'm sure they can sell out those two theatres.

I was considering a jolly to London but only if it was a day trip. I don't feel I could cope with the level of hysteria either. Will save Nikita for my dreams! 😍
 
I’ve booked a ticket for Manchester as I’ll have to travel to either of the venues and I’m due to start a new job soon so can’t guarantee I could get the days off midweek to see them in London. I don’t care if it’s not the last time they dance. I’d quite happily watch them again and again. In reality opportunities will be limited with their other commitments. Layton is having meetings in LA so he may get a job out there.

The rumour I remember hearing (well, reading) wasn't that he was going to be benched, it was that he was getting his first duffer, and he huffed off because he wanted Maisie or no one.

Thinking about it now though, I doubt it's true. I don't think they'd have pairings in mind that far in advance, especially in the pre-Covid days when they paired them up live on the launch show.

I doubt that one (Jacqui would have been too tall for him), though I wouldn't be surprised if Gorka was always getting Maisie. I wonder who he'd have gotten. Clara/Ranvir/Caroline all short enough - perhaps he did bail if he was destined for Caroline!
