Ah fair enough I hadn’t watched them side by side, not an exact replica just similar choreo, my apologies! It was more so that it’s the same dance to the same song but again he won’t choose that! I didn’t know they had lifts in all dances in DWTS, could be an interesting switch up if they introduced that to Strictly?

Just watched Luba and Jowita on BBC Breakfast this morning talking bout pro tour. They were asked at the end about next series and they both said they hoped they'd be back but they don't know yet, so seems like none of them have been told if they're definitely back yet. They also spoke about Luba getting British citizenship and the test she had to do which was super interesting!

Also Kai has just posted this, looks like he’s doing the weakest link with Michelle, Lauren and Carlos. Do they do strictly specials of the weakest link? Otherwise a bit of a strictly pro overload. I’ll shut up now! 😁

I do love that the Bulgaria Strictly doesn’t even try to hide the fact they are doing a copy cat version of routines.
I do wonder if the pros have been partners professionally whether some of the choreography they do with the celebs will be similar as im guessing routines they have done professionally might inspire their routines on strictly. For instance the Cha Cha Cha Vito did with Ellie was similar to a Cha Cha Cha he did with one of his professional partners - saw it on YouTube a while ago.

If they are filming the weakest link and that won’t be shown for a few months or so then I guess Kai, Michelle, Lauren and Carlos are back this year and that Michelle might have a partner this time.

Hmm, I don't think that'd be a great idea. Generally the more lifts the worse the dancing. When DWTS Australia switched networks a few years ago they went from not allowing lifts to allowing them and the overall quality of the show went way downhill as well.

Then again, every now and then I do see a routine without lifts and think one or two would enhance it. But it would be a slippery slope to just doing lift after lift to avoid dancing. I probably wouldn't mind it if perhaps there was a time limit of how many seconds feet could be off the floor per routine.

But mostly I lean towards hoping they never change that rule. I think it would lead to even more of the crap ones getting through because of the audience. IIRC, on earlier seasons of DWTS, lifts were illegal, but pros still put them in duffers' routines because there was little else they could do. The judges would dock points, and the duffers would sail through to next week while someone good went home because the lifts made their routines look more exciting to the casual audience member and/or they thought the judges were being mean.

I doubt Strictly would ever do it anyway if they haven't by now.

The pros will definitely know whether they are back or not by this point, they just aren’t allowed to say until the official announcement. Obviously Graziano got in a bit early when he said he was back at one of his shows 😂
 
I think they are all back, I wonder if they will introduce one new pro this year as currently they have 19 so do 20 pros for the 20th year. Perhaps a male pro, so do 2 benched males, especially as this likely to be either Gio and/or JoJos last year.

It'd be interesting to know how often that happens. I noticed a pro on the German one did the same concept for routine with a celeb as in competition. Same song, same costume, a lot of the same choreography.



 
I guess if Michelle is filming a Strictly pro edition of The Weakest Link (which won't go out for ages) she must be back.

Ellie and Vito were on This Morning doing their dance teaching bit. It was very cute but clearly filmed during tour when Vito had that ill-fated encounter with Neil's barber.

Yes it's very much a case the Pro's use some if not completely lift Choreography that they have previously danced.
Katya in her winning year with Joe used a lot of her dances with Neil. The Solider dance and Cinderella dance are close copies of their show dances from their competition days.
Michael and Jowita were knowing for their lifts and tricks in dancing so it's likely they will reuse them with others because they are most familiar with them making it safer and easier to teach.

I really like Michael, he's always come across as a gentleman which is why I suspect they give him attractive women because they know he will behave himself.

Possibly, although I think the female line up needs more of a shaking up. I originally thought Michelle would be sure to go, but now not so sure. Don't see the point of having her on the bench if they won't use her though. She's always come across as fairly cold to me, and I don't think its just that she's benched, I think Lauren seemed a lot warmer in comparison last year when they were both benched. 20 pros is a lot, but I have a feeling we could have a big cull in the next couple of years, I'd imagine Karen, Dianne, Gio, Gorka and Jojo will all move on soon, possibly Nadiya and Katya as well.

Janette had pretty much one salsa routine (her one from SYTYCD) that got endlessly recycled.

And going way back, Darren & Lilia were still competing in their first year or two as pros, and I heard reports that some of their competition stuff featured in their Strictly choreo.

It makes sense: there’s limited time to come up with something brand spanking new every week, there are only so many choreographic options for any given dance, and each pro will have their own preferred/established sequences of moves.

Other than going to Graz's show with some of the others last week, I can't remember Michelle ever hanging out with any of the other pros. Seems a little odd after over two years since she met them. Cameron seemed closer to the others, didn't he?

I'd totally started to believe that reddit post that claimed they couldn't wait to fire her. But it seems unlikely to be true now.

If Michelle does get a partner, I hope she can choreograph better than her boyfriend. I didn't think much of it on DWTS Ireland this year. I hope she's more relaxed on camera too. I remember she was very awkward and stiff in her first interview on ITT.

Not identical but I do think this inspired his cha cha cha with Ellie obv the music and styling is erm different:
 
I'm so glad I already had the ick with Vito from his waitstaff bothering, because that would have done it. :oops:

I'm having trauma flashbacks to Grocery Store Joe's Salsa...

He does like to be rejected and thrown on the floor by a sexy lady at the end of every routine doesn't he...? :unsure: What a shame he's managed to be so deeply unsexy at the same time I can't even entertain myself with fantasies of him being an obedient sub.

 
Videos of the pros competing are hilarious - the styling is always terrible. Katya always seemed to be wearing 20lbs of make-up and horrible 'sexy' dresses.
This one of Gio is like that - he's used a bucket of lard on his hair (including weird greasy quiff), he appears to be almost in blackface, and it is obviously pre-cosmetic dentistry visits
