Am 100% positive either something happened or he led her on to think something would. They went from cosy pals to icy silence v quick

Did Ranvir not hook up with a younger guy from the strictly backroom team?

Maybe it was his ego bruised?

Does anyone remember the old days of strictly when Karen and Mark had a right go at each other??? Before we became "one big happy family"

Eh, I think it goes a bit beyond 'slightly annoying.' All the pathological lying and creepy mirroring/mimicking stuff screams some flavour of pretty serious personality disorder. People like that naturally put people's backs up even if they haven't technically done anything too heinous*, because they remind them of abusers in their own lives. She sure as hell reminds me of my NPD mother with the way she contradicts herself every other sentence with seemingly no awareness she's lying and that everyone knows she's lying, constantly picks fights so she can play the victim and can't handle not being the centre of attention at all times.

I don't agree with her getting violent/death threats or anything like that (though I've read a fair bit on Twitter today and I don't remember actually seeing any?) but people mocking her slipped mask - lol she had that coming. It's pretty hard to really hurt a narcissist's feelings anyway, they default to being angry that people aren't worshipping them enough.

(Disclaimer - obviously I can't definitively armchair diagnose her, but from a lifetime of experience with a NPD, I'd be pretty shocked if she didn't have something.)

*nothing too heinous is giving her quite the generous benefit of the doubt; I suspect there was an element of racism in her targeting Marisha to bully. I think it was really Fern she was angry with, who also nominated her and also let her know she saw through the mask, but thought Marisha was an easier target than a white woman.

Layton's still a head for that misogynistic (and weirdly heteronormative) comment to one of her fans though.
ES reminds me of my NPD mother too, so did Zeze when she was trying to force herself to cry but couldn't. I actually had to stop watching it cause she was freaking me out. Nikita seems to be very inoffensive in there and bar me no longer fancying him in the least, which I am fully entitled to not, he's coming across well.

Layton, not so much. Which is funny cause he's not even in the house!! Guessing it wouldn't go too well for him if he was! Nikita is definitely the sweetheart of the two anyway.

I wonder if Gio got a heads-up that the S*n were putting the Ranvir etc stuff on their front page

It’s telling that Gio says at the end of the day he’s trying to get them to get good scores on a sat night. Maybe he needs to be more Gorka and also make sure they have a good time whilst getting the best scores for their ability not necessarily top of the leader board. Some celebs just go on it for the money, hopefully raise their profile, have some fun and maybe learn a few dance steps along the way - nothing wrong with that.

Oh yes, it completely slipped my mind that Marisha is Layton's friend too. No wonder he's not a fan of Ekin-Su!

I saw screenshots of those deleted tweets of Neil's somewhere a few years ago. He was on holiday in Thailand and said something mocking about 'Thai ladyboys'. They were from like 2007 or thereabouts. I can't really judge him too harshly for that one, I would have thought the same then too. I presume he hasn't said anything transphobic more recently or we'd have heard about it, so it was probably just ignorance. There was also something iffy race-wise, which weirds me out a bit more. He should have been way too old to find race jokes funny. But I can't remember exactly what they were or how bad. IIRC I think I didn't fully understand them so there might have been some missing context.

I hate to defend Dianne, but I saw that clip and I don't think she even did it. It looked to me like she only knew about 10% of the lyrics and was mostly just saying nonsense words.

This is from the daily fail but this reads that the BBC haven’t yet released the footage and if legal action is taken the one thing the BBC could be in trouble with is breaking data protection - not a 100% sure but if a subject access request is made or an FOI requested it shouldn’t be publicly released or insinuated who requested the info that should be kept anonymous.

“Abbington has reportedly lined up top lawyer Persephone Bridgman Baker to demand rehearsal footage”

A) amazing name
B) hasn’t she been supposed to be demanding this since Jan? Why is it taking so long?

If they haven’t released it yet, they probably found an exemption not to. In which case you could then complain to the ICO. Weird not to give the footage if the footage shows nothing.

To be fair to Gio he's not the only pro who's got high expectations. Johannes said in his book that in his first two years on Strictly in South Africa he was too pushy with his partners. Obviously we don't know what's in the footage but I think its up to the producers to pair celebs with a pro they will do well with. With Faye and Debbie they were both very competitive and didn't mind being pushed, so they did well. Take Oti and Bill, he was competitive, she pushed him and so they won. Similar story with Will and Nancy, Katya and Nigel. I don't think its a bad thing to have pros who are naturally more intense and competitive, you just have to pair them with celebs who will reciprocate that. Also by reading the comments on that Daily Fail article, most people are on Gio's side so she's not making herself anymore popular.

The difference with Johannes is he realised he was pushing too much, so changed how he taught and spoke to others about he could improve how he approached the teaching. Amanda was Gio’s 9th partner. Gio could have softened his approach and had he of done, Amanda would probably have stayed in, would still have danced well and perhaps they would have won. Strictly ought to be about the celeb winning not the pro. Therefore the pro needs to adapt to the celeb not the other way round.

That's why Katya is the best pro. Because she doesn't patronise her duffers like Anton often did. But she pushes them to try and learn, but still makes sure it's in a way they enjoy and can handle. And you can't tell me people like Ed Balls and Tony Adams didn't end up both enjoying the show and learning at some dance bits.

I don’t think Amanda was ever going to win … she was too divisive. Later stages absolutely but up against everyone’s favourite Woobie and Katya, the girl next door and Vito, the musings of Bobby and the increasing hyper Diane or the partnership that Layton and Nikita became … nah.

i think all the pro’s are competitive … you don’t train from childhood and enter competitions to think second is good enough … it’s just that some are able to recalibrate better than others. My main take away is that Gio is a one-dimensional teacher. If you respond to his kind of teaching you’re grand, if not you’re in for a Rocky time.

Had a look. ‘Little Rose’ 🤮
Am wondering which celebs would want him now. Maybe someone hyper-driven like an Olympian? He’ll be desperate to show he can be a good partner. Also a coincidence that he’s gone public with a new gf now - trying to show he’s not an FR but a settled man?
