I think Layton is fiercely loyal and protective of his friends. Nikita is not his only friend in the house, he’s also known Marisha for years. Whilst it was clear that Layton was not a fan of Ekin-Su earlier in the week and I expected him to go all in on her on Thursday he actually said he felt bad for her as she clearly had a lot of work that she needed to do on herself. I think his response last night was in frustration watching her come out and take no accountability for her behaviour and play the victim. Ekin-Su is almost 30 and behaved like a spoilt brat having a tantrum. If she was smart she would have come out and shown some humility, saying that emotions are so heightened in the house and with hindsight could see that she totally over reacted and was sorry. I see Layton, AJ and Will are coming in for a lot of criticism for how they approached Ekin on L&L but I don’t think they did anything wrong. Ekin and her mum were already digging a deep hole for themselves without their help.
I do think a lot of the response to Layton on social media is disproportionate and like when he was on strictly probably not about the issue they say it is at all. I think his clap back was inappropriate and the kind of stuff that is funny when he says it to a homophobic man (like lots of his detractors usually appear to be) and hope that he will look back and realise that he crossed a line.
Nikita’s reaction to conflict and confrontation really does look like a freeze trauma response to me. He is probably someone who does all he can to avoid conflict and now he’s in a house with a load of strangers he has no control over and can’t get away from. It really does look genuine to me. I also think the stupid thing last night was a case of Nikita picking up some slang with no idea of the context. He’s only lived in the UK for a couple of years and clearly has an incredibly busy life with lots of traveling so I’m not surprised that he didn’t get the context of the word. As he appears to be so conflict averse it makes sense that he was panicking about offending people.
Bringing this post back to strictly I blame Gio, Dianne or Neil for teaching him that word as it seems like the kind of word those twats would use thinking it makes them sound cool.
