Eh, I think it goes a bit beyond 'slightly annoying.' All the pathological lying and creepy mirroring/mimicking stuff screams some flavour of pretty serious personality disorder. People like that naturally put people's backs up even if they haven't technically done anything too heinous*, because they remind them of abusers in their own lives. She sure as hell reminds me of my NPD mother with the way she contradicts herself every other sentence with seemingly no awareness she's lying and that everyone knows she's lying, constantly picks fights so she can play the victim and can't handle not being the centre of attention at all times.

I don't agree with her getting violent/death threats or anything like that (though I've read a fair bit on Twitter today and I don't remember actually seeing any?) but people mocking her slipped mask - lol she had that coming. It's pretty hard to really hurt a narcissist's feelings anyway, they default to being angry that people aren't worshipping them enough.

(Disclaimer - obviously I can't definitively armchair diagnose her, but from a lifetime of experience with a NPD, I'd be pretty shocked if she didn't have something.)

*nothing too heinous is giving her quite the generous benefit of the doubt; I suspect there was an element of racism in her targeting Marisha to bully. I think it was really Fern she was angry with, who also nominated her and also let her know she saw through the mask, but thought Marisha was an easier target than a white woman.

Layton's still a head for that misogynistic (and weirdly heteronormative) comment to one of her fans though.
But this is a reality show where nobody is being themselves. She’s playing the game, gave people a villain. Mirroring behaviour is also a trait of insecure people. She didn’t abuse anyone. And didn’t Nikita imitate a Jamaican accent?

just make it end, have Nikita win or whatver, and let us never speak of it again. I’m disappointed in how gassed up on himself Layton seems over all this with the ‘stiff cock’ and ‘read a witch’ comments.
Am praying that Bobby appears today wearing only the Scarf, telling the press he’s in love with Shirley or something equally unhinged.

I think he was asking so many questions for fear of being cancelled and let's be honest people have been cancelled for a lot less offensive things.
He was definitely putting on a Jamaican accent when he first said it in the shed so to then make out he didn't realise the origin .... All that 'am I cancelled now' but grinning while asking ngl I secretly wanted BB to pull him formally on it.
Not his finest hour for sure.
Not sure why it “wasn’t his finest hour” when he never actually offended anyone? Levi and Zeze both said it wasn’t offensive and they completely understood that he meant no harm by it and didn’t fully know the origin of the word. He made an effort to correct himself and apologize even though technically he did nothing wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️

He doesn’t need to worry about being cancelled as everyone on twitter was either just laughing at how panicked he was or agreeing that he meant no harm 😂 I do think Layton needs to chill though, i’m all for giving an opinion and calling people out but sometimes the way he does it is questionable.

Well, that's one way of reading it, but I don't believe she intentionally played the villain at all. If she did it was really stupid because I don't think she's got much of a career left anymore. Well, actually I guess she could go back to acting if she's actually good enough to have pulled off that shock that she got booed and evicted.

I disagree that she didn't abuse anyone. What she did to Marisha is textbook gaslighting, guilt tripping, DARVO tactics. Marisha nominated her for a non-personal, non-offensive reason. While others had to take comments about their personalities/behaviour on the chin, she got a simple 'it's a game and I have to nominate someone and I see you as my biggest competition because you're so popular.' And, even though she herself had nominated her closest ally with pretty much a 'sorry but everyone else thinks you suck so I'm jumping ship lol,' she went apeshit at Marisha even though she'd given the kindest possible reason for her nomination. She called her fake, accused her of using/betraying her, of destroying her ability to trust people and being just like people who had abused her, made her grovel for forgiveness and refused to accept her apology (that she never needed to offer in the first place) and just generally screamed at her and made her cry and question if she was a horrible person on what should have been the day she was celebrating her Olivier nom.

In a long list of compulsive lies, she claimed on Late and Live that she didn't really turn on Louis, he'd asked her to nominate him because he was sick of it and wanted to go home - when of course their interactions in the house made it clear that he did not know she was going to nominate him. She was even rude to him at one point. I can't remember exactly what it was and I couldn't be bothered watching again, but while she was having her tantrum over Marisha 'betraying' her, Louis whom she had 'betrayed' tried to talk to her she just told him to duck off. He didn't even give a tit that she'd nominated him, imagine how she'd have reacted if he had!

Anyway, if she did intentionally portray herself as a villain to make good TV, then people buying it and hating her is what she wants, right? So what's the problem? 🤷‍♀️

as for the Jamaican accent thing, idk it didn't sound like it to me and it was one word, but I don't know anything about the cultural context so I can't really comment on that.

I'm a bit disappointed in Layton too, but not overly surprised really. Some of his replies to people during Strictly were a bit ill-advised too IMO. I'm annoyed at him for that one comment, but I don't disagree with anything he's said about Ekin-Su.

I do think Ekin Su has come across like a bit of a dick on the show, it was a really bad move for her especially as she was still so popular after Love Island. I understand that she’s been through a lot with her relationship etc but imo that doesn’t excuse her strange behaviour. It’s the lying about little things that confused me the most. With that being said, I do think the pile on has been a bit much and comparing her to the likes of racist Jade Goody and Roxanne Pallett who falsely accused a man of abuse is way too far.

Layton was correct in what he said but I agree that some of his responses at times are a bit much.

Obvs can't read his mind, but I'm guessing it was probably for one or both of two reasons.

1- he thought Ekin-Su was way more popular due her amount of followers, and thought gunning for her wouldn't work and would just put a target on his back.

And/or 2 - He had a nice, safe, bland, inoffensive reason for nominating Fern - 'she doesn't participate with group activities enough.'
He'd have had to come up with a reason to nominate Ekin-Su, and I imagine after seeing the way she unhinged her jaw and devoured Marisha (who didn't even give a personal reason for it) he didn't want to get on her bad side.

Poor thing looked like he wanted to die when she came in and tried to restart the fight with Marisha while he was sitting next to her.😬🙈:censored:

Does he play with that teddy for comfort?
Don't get me wrong it's adorable and you would need some kind of stress relief in there
He covers his eyes and gets very sensitive too as someone said earlier
It's cute to watch.

To add to my thoughts about Layton's behaviour - that comment was definitely a bad take and he should know better. I hope he realises it and issues an apology at some point.

But at the same time, if I try to imagine where he's coming from, I think he's just being very protective of Nikita, and knows that the way Ekin-Su was behaving was upsetting him. I've thought about it for a while, and I think Nikita is being genuine about that. I've considered the possibility that he's only staying out of the conflicts because he's afraid picking the wrong side could get him fired from Strictly, but I don't think that's all of it. I think if it was only that, there's no reason why he'd look so upset about it. He could just laugh and put his hands up and say 'nope, don't care, not my problem.' He could just look bored, indifferent, amused or whatever while the others are fighting.

Instead he's always curling in on himself, hiding his face in his jumper or his hands, clutching Lauren's stuffed bear/bunny/dinosaur/whatever the hell it is and just generally looking like a kicked puppy sitting in a rain puddle. I don't think he can act well enough to pull it off if it was fake, especially when he doesn't know what's going to end up in the edit. It would be a lot of work to be putting it on - the tears, the body language, the nervous fiddling, the drained/overwhelmed expressions. I think he's a sensitive little flower (affectionate) who genuinely finds confrontation and listening to people argue distressing. No idea what the poor dumb idiot expected was going to happen on motherfucking Big Brother, but there you go. So yeah, not surprised Layton has claws out for the hole causing a lot of the conflict.

Totally agree. Nikita has acquitted himself well so far but Layton comes across as an entitled horror on L&L. ES may be delusional but can’t stand people who kick a dog when it’s down. The WAY he spoke to her.

Anyhow hope Nikita wins BB. He may not be lively on it but an extremely interesting and talented young man.

I don't think the content of what Layton said about/to Ekin Su was problematic, and I agreed with his point of view, but from watching Late & Live this week it's made me wonder if he's capable of speaking a sentence without including slang buzzwords or meme-type reactions - I really liked him in Strictly but he's really hard to listen to and be endeared to when everything he says is a sassy slay!

It's his girlfriend's, so I assume he's brought it to remind himself of her. I think she called it jellycat? or something like that. I've given up trying to figure out what the hell it is. He was certainly wringing it within an inch of its life while Fakey-Boohoo was on the warpath, I hope it made him feel better 😂

It is very cute, yes. 🥰

I don’t really think Nikita is a delicate flower. He’s lived in at least four countries, navigated an incredibly competitive and dog-eat-dog industry, and presumably signed up for this with open eyes and for a hefty pay check.

Anyway, when he’s trying to teach Patricia Routledge the samba in September to ‘Hot in herrrre’ he’ll know what pressure is…

Think being in that house with strangers must be so intense. Seems to be little natural light, bright colours, no privacy, producers creating situations for drama. I would oddly love to see Giovanni on it. I think though he knows he wouldn’t be able to cope and probably end up raging at someone. In fairness I would be the same.

You can be savvy in business but still not enjoy when people are arguing right in front of you.

Yeah, I agree. I think being able to handle the pressure of competing in dancesport is a different skillset to navigating people having emotionally charged personal conflicts, especially a bunch of people you've known a week and are stuck with.

Also he might have some reason for hating it, like some friend/girlfriend/family member being a huge drama queen in the past and he's just over it and has no patience for people like that. (I know I certainly used up a lifetime's worth of patience on my lunatic of a high-school best friend lol)

yeah, while he is great at his career and clearly very focussed and goal oriented, he is obviously very sensitive and conflict averse and it's getting to him

and, yes, it's incredibly cute that he's continuously holding onto his emotional support teddy and/or emotional support colson/bradley😭

I like Nikita and I'm glad no one in the house got offended, I was just surprised that he did it in the first place was kinda my reaction as I had expected with him being so well traveled and quite a bright switched on guy that it wouldnt of entered into his head as being acceptable.

Im very aware of how beloved Nikita is on here so I only said it myself because I was genuinely a bit taken a back that he had to have it explained but there you go we're all learning and that can only be a good thing ✌️

Laytons just being himself. He’s always been very OTT & very opinionated. He calmed it right down for Strictly. You could still see the very flamboyant side of him but it was a calmer, less sharp version. Sharp as in claws out opinion on various things. He’s always bitten back on social media & it’s not usually very polite clap back. I’ve not been surprised by anything I’ve seen of him online or on TV!

Part of the reason I hate BB these days is because everyone expects their favs (celeb or normal human) to be absolutely perfect. And perfect to their precise expectations. And no-one is. I considered myself to be incredibly open minded, inclusive & pretty liberal. Do I say the odd thing that isn’t quite right sometimes, probably! Do I occasionally use language that isn’t quite right? Again, I probably do. Hopefully not frequently but if I was on camera 24/7 for a month, there’d probably be something. So long as I’m called out & I learn, I’m only human. So is everyone else.

English is his 5th language, so it's likely a case of him parroting back a word that he's heard friends say with absolutely zero clue to the etymology of it or what it actually means.

He probably thought (for example) it would be like him coming here to Northern Ireland and picking up something like 'Boutya'.
