He had such a fabulous partnership with Layton, any other celebrity is going to be a treading water kind of thing (which is pretty much Gio territory)

This was my concern when they got to the final. I thought, Layton is his dream partner. He's not going to get anyone better (both in terms of talent and friendship), but I hoped he didn't see it that way and turn into an under-invested Gio type by the next series. And now he's doing CBB and I'm a bit 😬

I think he's still got a number of good years left in him for Strictly and probably has more chance of winning with someone who comes in with little to no fanfare like an Ellie or Hamza type.

I just can't see what else someone like Nikita is going to do at his age. He's 26, Strictly is incredibly well paid and stable for a dancer, there are *no* better renumerated and more high-profile opportunities than Strictly. And he is absolutely professional enough to do well with whoever he's paired with next year. He may well get his Bill Bailey after his Danny Mac.

Even Gio, who has more irons in the fire with his tour and TV series, goes back, because he knows what side his bread is buttered on.

Yeah, I agree. I hope he stays (I don't doubt he won't) and stays true to his passion for dance and teaching.
 
I can see why a pro would want to leave on a high but after only three years it seems unlikely. I hope.

On the other hand, what with the way he's moved around so much, living in so many countries, I guess I could see him being a flighty type who doesn't want to stay anywhere or do the same thing for very long. I just hope if he does move on it's still dance-related instead of winding up like AJ. He seems too smart for that though. And I think he's too passionate about dance. AJ and Curtis always came off like they only became dancers because their parents own a dance school, not because they loved it.

Anyway, I kinda suspect the CBB move is more to help promote Lauren as an influencer than anything else. I doubt that he just randomly happened to decide to share her TikTok on his insta yesterday for no reason. And I don't mean that in a judgey, negative way, it's only sensible not to turn down an offer of loads of money and publicity for doing duck all for a couple of weeks, and help his girlfriend advance her career at the same time. So long as he doesn't end up making a tit of himself it shouldn't do him any harm.

(It would be so funny if the rumours were wrong and he isn't even on it now.)

I’m not so sure that she wants to be an influencer. I think it’s just that she’s young and excited about being around famous people. Her posts seem to be mainly Nikita based or her posing for photos as she’s a model. She’s done a few posts with Zara, which again I think is probably about her thinking it’s cool to be mates with someone famous. I don’t get any sense of who she is and what she is influencing from her social media other than she is living the dream holidaying lots with her hot famous bloke.

Both of those pros stuck around a while after those respective seasons and Oti even won twice. He'll probably never get someone quite as talented as Layton again (those types are very rare) but certainly Strictly has more to offer him.

Gio and Rose is different as that was his winning season after years of coming close and not doing it. I also don't think Gio has the same ability to make the most of non contenders like Nikita showed with Tilly & Ellie.

That’s a good comparison. Both Oti and Gorka had incredible partners early in their strictly careers but still both went on to reach multiple finals after that, Gorka with Maisie & Helen and then Oti getting back to back wins with Kelvin and Bill so it’s not all downhill after having such a talented partner. Different for someone like Pasha who ended his run with Ashley Roberts but he had been on the show for 8 years so made sense for him to move on.

Pasha had also won a glitterball at that point so wasn’t needing to prove anything.

Loved Dua Lipa opening the Brits, mainly because Jake Leigh was on stage with her. After hearing my squeal of “Oooh it’s Jake!” - my family thought it was someone I personally knew 🤣

Fleur looks fantastic, kudos to her for going at that late stage in her pregnancy - v. brave! Hope she is on a table close to the loos though.

There does seem to be an odd mix of guests, I noted the BB23 winner and his bf on the table with AJ & Will - maybe Nikita can pick up some tips from them.
