Sorry to be that person but I struggle to really care about Ellie & Bobby now that the tour is over. I feel like the winners and sometimes some of the finalists suffer from overexposure by this point.

IIRC, I think many of us were content to see the back of Rose by the time the 2022 cast was announced.

When it comes to the E/V/B situation, it just goes to prove all the touchy, feely, kissy bollocks between celeb and pro actually means feck all (in a romantic sense). Particularly when it's done on camera from about the second week of the show, or in an arena in front of thousands of people.

Also, shippers need to learn that when they have to go hunting for clues on SM to find the evidence that will prove their fave couple are in a relationship, it actually means they aren't.

I just can't imagine ever being interested, let alone invested in who's banging who. It's deeply boring to me, all the overanalysing of who's wearing what or who said what that might mean this... Shippers really need to touch some grass and go get a "ship" of their own!

Ellie is definitely going to be one of those forgettable winners, bless her. I kept forgetting she in the competition right up until she won.

For some reason doesn't matter what the show is everyone always forgets about the winners it's all about the runners up
By next series everyone will have forgotten who won much like you forget the first half to get eliminated actually took part.

But I find fandom and parasocial relationships and shipping fascinating from a psychological viewpoint, I would love to do a thesis on it where my research question would be

I reckon the majority of the commenters on E&V’s posts are not actually that invested beyond the main show and the odd bit of social media. They clearly don’t see anything other than what is being fed directly to them on whatever platform they are on - no different to most SM content and the wild comments sections.

There is obviously exceptions to this such as hard core shippers, but they are the minority and I would be inclined to believe that there is something else driving that behaviour.

What interests me is if the Rio shippers are repeating this with Ellie & Vito and if we will still see the Ellito comments in years to come…

Whilst I think Bobby is quite harmless I do think he makes it easy for the gentle fun. Get your haircut, put some socks and on and buy a proper coat young man

I think Vincent, like Kristina, has probably spoken out from a place of hurt whilst grieving for his friend but I really don’t think random strangers need to know so much personal information about Robin. It feels intrusive.

What I find disturbing is my daughter said I was a shipper but I’m not mental!
I just liked E&V, thought they would be a cute couple, hoped they would be but they aren’t end of.
my daughters reaction this morning to me showing her the press photos of E&B coming out as a couple was shipper level she went to school livid.

They waited 9/10 weeks before announcing the little ones arrival

Bobby does genuinely come across as a nice boy. I hope him and Ellie are having a nice time, but other than both being soap actors and sharing the strictly experience I would never have put them together as they seem so different.
I do also question the wisdom of going public so soon, especially when she is about to embark on a tour, obviously likes being in the DM sidebar of shame more than we originally thought.

Speaking of the DM, something needs to be done about our gutter press. Yesterday, they were reporting about poor Robin’s finances and the amount in his bank account before he died - so unnecessary and disrespectful

Yeah I felt the same about what both Vincent and Kristina said - they are speaking out as they are grieving and angry but of course the tabloid mill just takes what they say and feeds it into the churn - the 'tragic Robin' stories that don't capture his full complexity. The stories by his close friends have been lovely to read, if painful.
I found Anya's post very moving with the dance that she said they choreographed when they were both going through a lot. Shows how dance can be so important.

I think a significant percentage of the people who post cringy 'omg you guys neeeeeeeed to be together!' messages on people's SM posts actually aren't massively invested shippers, they're just overbearing, clueless twats who think everyone is dying to hear their extremely important opinion. I think a lot of them do forget about it very quickly.

I guess it remains to be seen if Elvito has enough of the super invested breed of cringy, inappropriate shipper to create long-lasting drama. Maybe they do? I don't remember seeing a lot of people shipping them earlier, but I honestly don't remember seeing many Rio shippers during the series or tour either. I might have just not seen the right places, but I definitely remember every time I looked at their AT, most people felt shipping was inappropriate because Rose had a boyfriend. I guess it was after they broke up that they came out of the woodwork.

I don’t look at other forums apart from here, so my observations are based on those that make multiple cringey comments on SM. The ones I would say were hard-core are those that engage in conversation with other commenters, acting as though they actually know what is going on, but @diamondthunder does have a very valid point about them being overbearing clueless twats

Maybe a combination of the BAFTA, Rose splitting from her boyfriend and FR being able to sustain a relationship with anyone else helped keep their fans hopes up.

Them splitting up, plus Gio not managing or wanting to have a public, stable relationship with anyone, gave the shippers hope, as you can project anything onto silence ('oh they're seeing each other in private'). If Gio had come out with Jowita at that point it would have put a big spoke in the Rio wheels.

With Ellie and V, now that she's public with Bobby, you have to be absolutely deluded to do that ('Bobby's a decoy/it's a PR stunt') so it's probably come at a good time to head off the vast majority of the shippers (who I think are not hardcore, just 'aw they're so cute together' types). Like one of my besties over Xmas asked me if she thought E+ V were an item and was hoping they were (I obviously pretended this was not a topic I had a Masters by Research in), but I can guarantee she's probably not thought about them since.

I think that’s why they’ve come out publicly so quickly after the tour.
That being said, I do think it was wrong of her to post how much she loved Vito by reposting his goodbye post- that just added more fuel. Could have been handled better. They could have just done a normal goodbye post like the other celeb/pro’s did and had it done with. Fuelled more SM crazy posts.
