OMG I'm an idiot. But thank you for clearing that up! I was thinking it seemed out of character for him to say something like that.
I really think the language barrier is a problem for Carlos, and even still, for Gorka, and it's part of the reason they seem a bit awkward or timid or something. And Chinese is so different - it must be 10 times harder to cope with English than for a European. (but I don't know how much English they get in school.) I even spent a summer there, but it was Shanghai so I don't think that's representative. Carlos is from Taiyuan, population only about 5 million, so a mere village in China - though he says he's from Shanghai, or that was the last place -- oh I don't know, but I get second hand painful cringe sometimes watching him with Claudia and on ITT, etc.
And with Gorka, I think he can appear sullen and awkward too, though it's getting better. That workout obsession turned me off Gorka so I don't follow his Instagram or anything. Sheesh. Is it small man syndrome? Though maybe a decent fallback career as a trainer.
