For a while now, I've been mildly curious about Ellie mentioning that Amanda was like an on-set 'mum' to her, inviting her round for dinner, etc., and they apparently became quite close. At the time I wondered if, what with Ellie being young and relatively sheltered both career-wise and seemingly in her personal life too, Amanada had consciously decided to keep an eye on her to make sure she wasn't pushed into things she didn't want to do, wasn't treated badly, etc (not suggesting by Vito, more by production more generally, as I know a lot of former Strictly contestants have been coerced into stuff they weren't entirely comfortable with), as maybe she remembered being young/naive in TV/film and knows how easily the industry can chew up & spit out inexperienced, eager-to-please types. I mean, maybe I've got Ellie completely wrong and she's as tough as old boots, but that's not the impression I got of her.
So how insane is it that it turns out Ellie wasn't the one who needed 'protecting'. It was Zara who needed looking out for, despite being older than Ellie, already a veteran of reality tv, and being partnered with seemingly one of the 'nicest' men on the show?
