I thought Angela S did pretty well and Carlos gave her a decent amount of content to get to grips with. It was a shame about her frame and posture, her footwork didn't look terrible to me (maybe the longer back steps were the missing ingredient like Anton said). The spinning break was a little jarring. I thought she attacked it well for week 1.

Watching Krishnan's back I loved Lauren's energy, her expressions (!) and her legs are to die for! Okay perhaps she did outdance him a bit 😂
The first half of their routine was really action packed but the second half choreography was lacking? There was a sudden loss of energy which didn't really recover. They ought to have repeated a couple of the moves from the first half just to get them to the end, it would've kept the momentum going ☺

ETA I've just read James Jordan's comments (I don't like his personality but always enjoyed his dancing and his critiques are pretty fair/often generous). Apparently the tango is one of the easier ballroom dances to pick up and Angela S got quite a lot wrong, oops so disregard my thoughts!

Interesting choice to not mention it on the show (unless they do next week, I guess) I wonder if that'll come back to bite her in the bum later if some audience members assume she's not got previous dance experience and feel 'lied to' when they find out?

Any form of dance experience, whether it’s the likes of Debbie McGee’s professional ballet career, Caroline Flack’s dance/musical theatre background, or Denise van Outen ‘sitting on a chair’ in Chicago, is barely ever mentioned on the show, so I cannot imagine vast swathes of the audience feeling ‘lied to’ if they find out that an actor did ballet as a kid but it was never formally declared on the show. 🤷‍♀️

Angela S had professional Irish dancing training, Les has been touring in 42nd Street, most actors/performers have had dance lessons at some point. Even pretty much every woman (and a few men) I know has done some sort of dance class at some point. Finding 15 celebrities each year who have never had so much as a single dance lesson at any point in their lives is a Herculean task.

And pretty interchangeable. Even their promo photos look The same.

They should swap places one week and see if anyone notices 😁

(Though if they do, it’d probably have to be next week as I’m not sure there’ll be many more weeks that they’re both still in the show).

Angela wasnt good. and yes the lack of movement and stiffness and reach could well be because of her age, infact it most likely is(though that makes that leg lift all the more hmmm) but any other contestant would have been slaughtered for that lack of elgance, movement, the moves and stiffness and she didnt reach into any of the end of her moves.
again, no shade it could well be her age! and kudos for doing it. but can it just be "allowed" because of this. as wont her populairty get her through more than most.

Her technique was actually pretty good - I could see stiffness which is age related, but come on she is 78 and to be able to do that leg extension at her age is incredible.

Her timing was good, she had good chemistry with Kai and all the basic cha cha steps were there. She executed them better than the others with cha cha cha.

Strictly has always been a popularity contest but Angela R did a decent cha cha even given her age.

Les just seems so nice and like it's a dream come true for him, which is lovely.

Nancy will definitely make him work hard and I know he will never be a dancer but I think he could stay longer than some of those who are less well-known. He has real likability on his side too.
I have a soft spot for Les. You know he's there to enjoy himself & I hope he stays for a few weeks so he can the most out of it.

She posted some epic dancing at her recent wedding. Dream contestant in the never going to happen category but would love to see
i feel oddly protective of her! even though i know she could handle her own brilliantly. i dont like the thought of the vitriol aimed at them sometimes online for no other reason than it brings knobbers joy to do so.

Caroline Flack was one of the celebrity partners on Strictly one off spin off Dancing on Wheels (Judges both Jordans and Ade Adepetian) and had tutoring with Lord Brian Fortuna of Dsrkness and Kristina. She and her wheelchair partner won and actually went on to represent the UK in a World or European Championship 4 or 5 years before she went in actual Strictly. This was never mentioned. 😀

To be fair, we know her leg can do that because she can do the splits, and will at the drop of a hat.
