The FB page of my local paper ran a story with the headline, "Fans send well wishes to Angela Rippon who is taking a much needed break from Strictly."

Cue a range of comments from, "What a shame, well she gave it a go" to "Ridiculous she was even on it in the first place, she's far too old."

The real story which I'd seen earlier on IG? Angela and Kai go for afternoon tea at the Ritz to celebrate the end of their first week of training.

I’m finally watching the launch show and twenty seconds in I am bored of Gilkerson burnthefloorography. Think I will be fast forwarding a lot of the group dancing. Why is Neil always at the front for the big pose?

Oldest kid has got into it and for some reason loves Shirley.

Im here for Angela Rippon. I think Angela S might win it.

I saw LadyLav saying Angela should go on first tonight as she'll need a sit-down and a cup of tea after!

I imagine the Amanda/Gio spat is probably not much to write home about - they've both posted stories, her rep denied it, but I imagine they did have a bust-up. He seems to be making more of an effort this year after the Richie debacle. Once again, penny for Richie's thoughts! I wouldn't really miss either of them tbh, but I suspect their VW will be very good after all this.

I've seen some really bitchy comments about Angela from older ladies

I love it! 😁

The papers are reallllly stuck for content trying to make stories out of nothing. I can well imagine there are clashes from time to time. It's all very intense, isn't it.
I would say managing situations is probably the harder part at times for the pros, than actually teaching the dance. 🕺💃

I honestly don't know how the celebs do it. I'd completely forget the routine midway through on the night and not be able to recover it! My mind would go blank under the studio lights.

Some of the celebs are seasoned performers but some aren't! And most are probably used to pre-recorded projects where you can do extra takes as required.

I'm surprised it hasn't happened more over the years, complete disaster as opposed to missing a few steps/a short segment and picking it back up again!

When you put it into perspective, its truly terrifying to learn a dance in a week and then perform it live and have to be judged in front of everybody only to then be at risk of elimination.

I absolutely could not and would not.

That is why I admire them when they go out there and just do their best.
It might not be perfect, or go as well for them on the night as it did during the week but fair dues to them.

And oh for sure, I couldn't do it!

oh heck, me neither. But, I think now I’d break it down into learning a different routine a week because really, it’s not learning a dance anymore. The old days of the likes of Matt saying to Alesha ‘follow me’ and having no one watching know that they had both forgotten a vast chunk of the routine just wouldn’t happen. Now a celeb couldn’t do a foxtrot unless it involved ascending on a giant donut, interacting with CGI penguins while dressed as a toothbrush. I mean it makes for an interesting first wedding dance, but …

Watching back the judges routine from last week and Neil is REPULSIVE 🤢 I’m sorry to the lovers of our red headed man child but his pouting during the section with him, Kai and Anton truly put me off men for life

I don’t think that’s really a fair comment to be making tbh. Someone else having it worse than you doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to be disappointed about things in your own life, it’s not a competition. Instead of having a dig at another pro you could just post your support for Amy and leave it at that.

Is there a rule on this thread nobody can dig at certain pros? Whilst I don’t disagree with your point, there seems to be a select few on here nobody can say anything negative about, it’s a discussion thread
