This is partially what baffles me: I was a huge fan of the early series of BB, including when Jade was in it, and she really wasn’t a nice person, so I’m struggling to see why her son has suddenly acquired ‘celebrity status’ out of the blue.

Has he garnered a lot of good will because Max Clifford did such a great job of reinventing her as ‘the nation’s sweetheart’? I don’t watch Eastenders - is he an especially great actor? I always thought the Eastenders cast were mostly shipped in from Sylvia Young and the like, so how did someone with (from what I’ve heard) no training or experience get a part? Has Jeff Brazier got particularly good connections?

I honestly just don’t get how Bobby Brazier ‘happened’. 🤷‍♀️

Maybe he’ll be a sweetheart on the show and I’ll be won over, but right now I just see an inexplicable ascension to ‘fame’ and a badly misjudged bare arse.

My mum is an EE fan and loves Bobby in it. Her liking of him isn't connected with Jade in any way, maybe just a certain youthful charm and charisma, so he's obviously got a lot of people liking him for various reasons.

I think Jade dying so tragically made people forget how problematic she was (though she’d obviously had a rough life). There’s a lot of goodwill out there for the boys and Jeff (speaking as someone who doesn’t follow them or EastEnders). I think people are impressed that Jeff kept them out of the spotlight for so long.
The nation also loves a cheeky chappy so if he pulls himself together I’m sure he can get past this. I thought going by his instagram he seemed a sweet if quite hyperactive boy.

I think a lot of it is down to what happened when she went back to do celeb Big Brother. From what I remember she was fine on her first go round, it was when she went back that it all went down hill, not helped obviously by Danielle, Jo and Jackiey. Then she went to do the Indian Big Brother and found out she had cancer, had the wedding and all the rest of it and in the middle of it were these two little boys who lost their very young mum. Bobby looks very like Jade and sounds a lot like her and I think it just reminds everyone of her.

I think you are on to something. My middle son was born the day before Jade died. I remember being sat with him in my arms in the early morning when it was announced. Mother's Day. My oldest was 4 at the time so I was all over the story and feeling dreadful for them/her.

I think I've brought all of that into how I view Bobby. I was surprised to read about him being kicked out of school in year 11. One thing I do find fascinating about reality TV is how your view of someone can be turned on it's head v v quickly. That arse video was 😟

ETA: that celeb big brother was dreadful in terms of how Jade etc behaved. Awful.

To be fair, she was fine on her first go round because the Producers had to coach her in the Diary Room and tone her down, she was not nice to Sophie. She then went on Back to Reality and was not nice to Rik Waller either.
 
I'm cynical Bobby's chosen this exact moment to ditch his on/off again girlfriend of some time. The very week Strictly starts 👀

It just feels like he's gearing up for some extra publicity of a showmance to boost his profile. Usually your best bet for headlines is a romance with your pro partner but there's a bit of an age gap there and I don't think Joe would be too happy (I find Joe and Dianne's relationship a bit weird anyway). Ellie seems like the only one on his age range and apparently she's recently broken up with her boyfriend of 5 years. Not saying it's going to happen but I can imagine the 'EastEnders+Coronation Street!!' headlines.

'Difference is Nadiya hasn't actually done anything wrong', how convenient 😂 I can't remember a time Dianne ever did something 'wrong' either, most of the criticism of her boils down to people finding her annoying, which is fine, but it's funny how people get on their high horse when it's directed at another pro 🤷

That's what I assumed before I watched it but nope. The story's still up and it's definitely not an accidental slip. His pants are pulled down at the back and tucked under, and he turns around to make sure she sees. He definitely did it on purpose as some sort of prank. :rolleyes: Absolute knobhead. I've known 13 year old boys more mature.

Feel sorry for Dianne, she's not in a good position. She probably doesn't want to ruin her cool teacher/fun auntie vibe by putting her foot down and telling him off, but she'll only have more nonsense like that to look forward to if she doesn't.
 
I do like Bobby, I was sceptical when he was cast in Eastenders but he’s created a good character on the show but I do think people seem to align the two- the character he plays is very sweet and I think people have sort of automatically presumed he’s the same, because we don’t know anything about him other than who his parents are.

Despite the height difference there was only ever one partner for him though, he seems very silly and immature which matches Dianne, I don’t think him and Nadia would have gelled at all.

Let's hope the media won't make stories of it dianne has a job avoiding awkward articles every year as it we all know the news can make something of the smallest posts and others cotton on and do the same.

Not even started properly and he's already getting his behind out in rehearsals 🤦‍♀️

Tbf, they weren't bothered when Gorka made his feelings about being benched very well known and I seem to recall his behaviour was much worse.

I'm not really seeing where's she moaned about it? If she didn't make a post saying how happy she is to be part of the show even without a partner and wishing everyone else luck, people would say she was failing to promote the show and encourage the others because she's bitter, but when she does make a post, then she's an attention-seeker. :rolleyes:

Unless she reaches 2019 Gorka levels of bitchy tweet-liking, I'm not judging her.

Also you don't seem to know what the definition of 'pick me' is. It's a woman who puts down other women to try to appeal to misogynistic men ('I'm a cool girl, I'm not like all those man-hating feminists!') It's not a generic term for attention-seeker :ROFLMAO:

Tbf, the pros all competitive people, they come from a competition background, I feel like they're allowed to be disappointed if they don't get a partner or if they get voted out. Obviously, all of them don't react the same way but they're not all the same people and it would be a bit boring if they were.
