Can we please stop this? Gender does not equal sexuality. It's perfectly possible to be gender critical and supportive of LGB people and still want to maintain single-sex spaces (which include LGB people!) primarily for the safety, privacy and dignity of women.

I'd imagine Amanda has worked with plenty of people of differing sexualities throughout her career considering her industry.

I’m not going to start pretending that she isn’t homophobic or transphobic.

Did she rant about the LGBT community?

I know she went on twitter and was critical about a 12 year old performing drag in what she perceived an inappropriate sexual way and disapproved of babies being taken to drag shows. She also expressed her views that a man with a penis couldn't be a woman. Probably unpalatable to some people however, I don't think she has ranted about the gay community. She has also apologised for her remarks.

Anyway, I'm so happy strictly is back. LOVED the show last night and looking forward to the coming months of fabulous & even cringey dancing:love:
 
Oh Lord, was this article written by a KJ stan? (As an aside, I wonder where this year's showmance will come from? the single pros are (AFAIK) Nikita, Carlos, Gio, Johannes, Luba, Katya, and possibly Vito. Whereas I think the single celebs are Bobby, Ellie, and then maybe Layton, Nikita, Eddie).

Strictly couple 'all over each other' leaving crew feeling awkward

The couple have been dating for over a year and appear to still be going strong as they 'struggle to keep their hands off each other'.

Regarding Nadiya and Kai - would they have given them no partner/a partner less likely to go to the final because they’ve a seperate show? Or is it literally a draw of the short straw every year.

Well Gorka & Karen have their own show, Giovanni has his own show, as does Johannes. There are the ‘Here Come the Boys/Girls’ shows; Anton, Erin & Brendan all had their own tours while they were on the show.

Why would Nadiya & Kai be singled out on that basis?

zara (not knowing much about her!) came across as very sweet i thought, so i don’t think she’ll be as early an exit as i was originally thinking.

jody and nikita will both struggle votes wise imo. beyond that, it’s an interesting call as they all group together from that point to me 🤣

I don’t think it makes a difference. Pro’s dip in and out of the tour all the time and even winners have done the tour with new partner (Caroline Flack was partnered by Tristan on the tour and Louis Smith with … Ola?). Also, the Tour is more Craig’s baby … it’s nothing really to do with the BBC.
 
I was reading some comments earlier saying things like "I switched off Strictly when they introduced same sex pairs" and I just wanted to reply with "oh get a bleeping life".

One contestant out of 15 is in a same sex pairing this year and I personally think it's nice to see some variety. Plus many gay people watch and love Strictly, so it's nice to have a little nod towards that fan base.

Many of them say they're not homophobic and that they just think ballroom dancing should be between a man and a woman, but it's not a serious contest; it's a bit of Saturday evening light hearted entertainment, so that excuse doesn't really wash IMO.

I didn't reply to any of them, but it annoyed me, hence me having a little rant here. 🤣

There was no real encouragement for him to try with his academic studies at all. Happy to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't know much about him and don't watch EE. It'll be interesting to see if cockiness comes through and/or if he thinks he can coast and secure a place in the final on the back of being the BBC's darling and NTA winner 😁
Hopefully he can prove himself although I never enjoy Dianne's partnerships!
 
Same sex couples on strictly don't bother me, but at same time I don't feel 'represented' either. It's dancing, not a love or sex thing. Its not as though the dancing/performing arts world is under represented with gay people anyway.

Hopefully nikita is able to come up with something better than Johannes constant side by side stuff with John though.
