My Strictly brag is that when we were lucky enough to get tickets to be in the audience, it was for this show and both dances, but especially the Rebel Yell jive, were spectacular.

I should give up hoping that we’ll ever get back the pro dances that focused on substance over style. Give the pros a few minutes to do what they do best without a million props and a ridiculous theme.

Completely agree. Would die to see some stripped down pro-routines like this. I'm sure producers think viewers have zero attention spans and are unable to focus on a routine for a couple of minutes without excessive bells and whistles.

Just let the dancing speak for itself.
 
Thought Ellie Leach came off well, she had some personality in her segment. Optimistic that she will not be a Katie McGlynn 2.0.

Jody had the least amount of time of everyone and I got slight JJ Chalmers vibes personality wise, so combined with his dancing, I wonder if he'll be a bit of a Cracknell type. Krishnan & Les are at least going to be fun even if they're crap.

Oh what a blast from the past 😍 I ADORE Brendan Cole. That line up of pros was brilliant. Brendan, Vincent and Flavia, Karen Harding! Darren and Lillia oh my god. Even James Jordan who is a knob personality wise but him and Ola together on the dance floor was magic.

Such a stark difference now to the gimmicky pro dances. As mentioned above, the dancing should be allowed speak for itself! Some of the current pros are just as good as the old school crew but it's not shown off as much. Shame

you lucky, lucky thing you😀 I love the way the audience audibly gasps when the pros are dancing. That’s a genuine reaction not like the awhoopin’ and ahollerin’ they are prodded into now.
(I think it shows as well that not every dance needs to be based around Romeo and Juliette a story. An an actual dance, danced brilliantly trumps a moody, half lit mishmash of hat tipping and shoulder shrugging every time).

I don't know if anyone reads Terry Pratchett Discowrld novels, but Kai is giving off strong Captain Carrot Ironfounderrson vibes in that photo. If you dyed his hair red, he would be 100% a casting choice: the broad frame, the sharp haircut and slightly-sticky-out ears, the expression that is perpetually caught between Strong Devotion To His Noble Duty and Slightly Concussed Boy Scout....

They love kai in a poppy and a beige outfit, probably because he’s the only one who doesn’t look so feminine 😂

These were both fantastic! I really miss them showcasing the core dances in this way. I remember when they had Flavia and Vincent performing a Samba. Just brilliant. You get to see the technique much more. A lot of that has fallen by the wayside since, in favour of gimics.

Still love it though. I just don't fall in love with a dance as often as I used to.
 
A few of the pros/celebs met their partners today, haven’t seen anything leaked about potential spoilers but there’s one that i’m potentially not happy about and is going to drive me insane 🤣

Without saying who it is, as I avoid spoilers, where did you see it if no spoilers are currently around? Was it something hinted at on social media and you were able to put two and two together?

I won’t say who and it’s obviously just guessing, but a certain pro & certain celeb posted things on instagram earlier today that made me think they could potentially be partnered. Could be miles off it though 🤣
