I am excited to watch it too! It’s only my second year watching it properly. I think later on I might go on a YouTube watching spree and watch some old dances.

Some of my faves so far (sorry very limited as only watched properly last year) are:

-Mein herr (Helen Skelton and Gorka)

-Argentine tango (Kym Marsh and Graziano)

-Magalenha (Danny Mac and Oti)

-Fever (Faye Tozer and Gio)

-Gangnam Style (Ed Balls and Katya)

Can anyone else recommend me their fave dances to watch? I’m open to all suggestions, I’m just getting in the Strictly mood!

I love watching back a lot of Gorka's dances with Alexandra and Maisie especially their quicksteps and jives, and Maisie's samba and tango

Also Jay McGuiness's jive and tango and Debbie's McGee's AT and AS

Seconding Alex and Gorka's jive, also Jay and Aliona's if you haven't already seen it!

Ballroom-wise, I loved all Ricky Whittle's but especially his quickstep, and Kara and Artem's viennese waltz.

I'm sure Neil helped Katya while they were together, as in, she asked his opinion or he maybe said "how about this?" but it always annoyed me that people made out like he helped her out so much. She's more than proved that she's a great choreographer at this stage.

harry judd’s quickstep - specially the blackpool version.



the best ever quickstep on the show, and maybe one of the best male celeb dances ever. still mad that craig gave him a 9 the first time around 🤣

The DS forum made me quite uncomfortable with how they treated Katya in the Mike Bushell year - quite a few jibes about how her choreo apparently wasn't good without Neil's help. Despite the fact that it was the same crazy stuff she'd always done (just not with a celeb who could do it justice) whilst Neil's work that year with Alex was nothing to write home about.

I think Neil and Katya were a proper partnership when they competed together … I can imagine she had the ideas and he worked out how and did the engineering … which would fit with him being more backroom staff than front of house for Strictly

I love any dance where it looks like the pro is having a blast and dancing at above 50% of their capabilities. I remember a VT with Jill and Darren when they were doing The Jive and she asked if he was dancing down and slower for her, and he said he was. She asked him not too, because she wanted to learn it to dance full speed with him. at the time, it was just aww, good for her … now she would be absolutely crucified 😀

(One of my favourite jive mashups is Pasha and Katya V when Caro Emerald was the guest singer)

yes! jill would never in a million years win current strictly - she knew her own abilities and knew she was good. made for outstanding dances: i miss the show before the journeys.

there is something wonderful about watching a pro with a celeb who can reach close to their level (and something awkward about watching pros who initially struggle to dance down).

It’s why I love Danny and Oti’s week one Cha cha. I have never before or since seen a pro look so absolutely smug all the way through. There’s one point towards the end where she is just beaming 😁

I fell in love with Strictly when I saw Jill and Darren Foxtrot to All That Jazz in series 2. It had all these perfect little musical note flourishes. I don't think it's on YouTube any more.

so many fantastic dances, where to start. I loved Matt and Alesha's Viennese waltz - the timing change! Oh and of course Karen and MarkR doing the Argentine tango.
